Bingo! - thought so. :D No other reason not to return to school on teh Monday after New Year's falls on a Thursday.

It makes sense to have it the first Monday of the calendar year. Hopefully the teachers are infact doing what they are supposed to do during the in-service day.

For the record, Christmas and New Year's Day are on Saturdays at the end of this year and early next year. It "jumps" Friday because of leap day this year [Sunday, February 29th, 2004]. :D
