OMG! I can't either. I haven't been this excited about a premiere since back in September! I saw a new promo as I was surfing around earlier which promises a shocking first 10 minutes and Ramsay himself says "the worst start ever". The signature dishes segment is one of the best of the entire season.

Next I can't waits: Duel on Friday, and Desperate Housewives on April 13th! Saw a new promo tonight. 8-)

THIS is what we're watching! How I Met Your Mother was excellent last night, as in game on or as character Barney would say - "it was legen......wait for it......dary!"

Knight Rider To Become Show, But Not Necessarily A Good Or Intelligent One

It's the news that I didn't mention for a day because I wanted to believe that it was all just an April Fools' hoax: NBC has picked up the recent reboot of Knight Rider as a regular series for its 2008-2009 season. The network, which will now be known as the "No, we didn't learn anything from Bionic Woman, thanks, why did you ask? Channel," hopes that the show will draw viewers in on Friday nights, but it's not banking on it, according to NBC co-chairman Marc Graboff.

Talking to Variety, Graboff admitted that he's perfectly happy if no-one watches Mike Tracer following in the footsteps - well, wheeltracks - of his father, Michael Knight:

Advertisers don't care as much about a specific show as opposed to 'Am I getting the kinds of eyeballs I paid for?' ...If we say we have a one-hour drama going into a timeslot, and it turns out it's not up to snuff, we'll put on another one-hour drama we have in the pipeline. What we won't do is put on a reality show.

Keeping up his unusually candid tone, Graboff also said that he know that Knight Rider isn't the most intellectual show... and, what's more, he's proud of it:
People need to escape. Ben [Silverman, NBC's head of programming]'s programming strategy is to find some shows where people can tune in and then mentally tune out. That's his directive, and I think you'll see that reflected in the programs.

Of course, NBC has more reason not to think about things than many; it's not every network that gets sued by Jack Klugman, after all.

NBC offers escape with new slate
Lineup heavy in fantasy, action series
By JOSEF ADALIAN
NBC's revamped 'Knight Rider' is one of several skeins for the 2008-09 sked that boasts a fantasy or action element.

With the economy going in the tank, NBC appears ready to bet that viewers are eager for a heavy dose of escapism -- and as few repeats as possible.
Peacock programming chief Ben Silverman will unveil Wednesday his first schedule since taking over the network in June. While the net is keeping a tight lid on specifics, its decision to order projects straight to series, along with the condensed pilot season, makes it possible to outline some broad details of NBC's strategy.

Many of the series in contention for the Peacock lineup boast a fantasy or action element, including one show just added to NBC's 2008-09 roster: "Knight Rider," the Doug Liman-produced actioner whose two-hour backdoor pilot snagged solid ratings in February. Project has been given an episodic order and has been mentioned as a contender for a Friday night timeslot.

What's more, people familiar with NBC's 2008-09 strategy said the net is looking to produce as many hours of original programming as possible next season. That will mean several series will share the same timeslot in some cases.

But it's important to balance any guesses about NBC's new sked with one important caveat: Even Peacock insiders say what will be revealed this week will be written in pencil. Execs have made it clear they'll reserve the right to make changes in order to react to competitors' moves or if promising scripts or pilots take a wrong creative turn.

"We're selling advertisers platforms as opposed to specific shows," said Silverman's partner, NBC Entertainment co-chairman Marc Graboff.

He noted that nets frequently say one thing in May but then make major changes to their skeds over the summer. What's important is not that, say, "Knight Rider" airs Fridays at 9 but that the Peacock delivers some sort of action-drama in that timeslot.

"Advertisers don't care as much about a specific show as opposed to 'Am I getting the kinds of eyeballs I paid for?' " Graboff added.

As a result, NBC plans to guarantee advertisers tonal consistency in timeslots.

"If we say we have a one-hour drama going into a timeslot, and it turns out it's not up to snuff, we'll put on another one-hour drama we have in the pipeline," he said. "What we won't do is put on a reality show."

As for the tone of NBC's programming, Graboff said blue-sky fare makes sense right now.

"People need to escape. Ben's programming strategy is to find some shows where people can tune in and then mentally tune out. That's his directive, and I think you'll see that reflected in the programs."

Graboff spoke to Daily VarietyMore than one option(Co) Daily Variety
Filmography, Year, Role
(Co) Daily Variety
last week in an interview about the Peacock's broader upfront strategy, before the net imposed a cone of silence designed to protect the details of Wednesday's announcements to advertisers and the media.

Exec said he expects to "roll out between seven and 10 new shows," including reality skeins. Graboff also hinted that NBC would announce some "special events" -- i.e., miniseries or limited series designed to further limit repeats.

In addition to the just-ordered "Knight Rider," escapist tag fits with many other projects NBC has already said it's committed to airing this summer and next season.

Anthology skein "Fear Itself" will air on Thursdays this summer, while "Robinson Crusoe" is described as an "adrenaline-charged" update of the classic tale.

Peacock also has a deal in place with a Canadian network for "The Listener," which revolves around a telepathic paramedic.

Another project on NBC's hot list is "Kings," which just landed Ian McShane as its star. Casting, plus the fact that NBC has ordered backup scripts, makes the show a logical bet to end up on Silverman's sked grids Wednesday.

Execs are also keen on "My Own Worst Enemy," a drama whose stock at NBC soared with the casting of Christian Slater in the lead. It's a sort of "Jekyll & Hyde" tale about a suburban man who leads a double life as a spy.

NBC has also shot pilots for a legal drama from director Barry Sonnenfeld and the Brett Ratner-helmed "Blue Blood." Scripts on agency hot lists include two Dick Wolf projects and a Dario Scardapane hour about a sexy former FBI agent that's being produced by Peter Berg and Sarah Aubrey.

On the comedy front, the Molly Shannon-Selma Blair half-hour "Kath & Kim" has already been ordered to series and seems a no-brainer for the net's Thursday lineup.

Pilots shooting soon include the Conan O'Brien-produced "Man of Your Dreams" and the Steven Weber vehicle "Zip."

As for the specific shape of the sked set to be revealed this week, Graboff hinted that NBC would be conservative in the fourth quarter.

"The backbone of our schedule will remain. We're not going to completely shake up things," he said.

Graboff did make it clear that volume would be a key part of NBC's programming strategy.

"Repeats don't work anymore, but we have a finite amount of money to spend," he said. "We're trying to do some things that are cheaper so that we can have more original programming."

Shows returning to NBC next season include "ER," "The Office," "Chuck," "Life," "The Biggest Loser," "American Gladiators," "Deal or No Deal" and "My Name Is Earl." Also a safe bet to be back: "Medium," "30 Rock," at least one "Law & Order" skein and "Friday Night Lights." First-year drama "Lipstick Jungle" could also return.

I hope somebody puts something on Friday nights, and it would be good if Saturdays were filled too.

Yeah, good luck with that. Fridays will probably be even worse next season with declining viewership. I think in a few years it'll be nothing but repeats like Saturday. :(

BTW... it's WAY too early for a fall schedule IMO. Oh well, NBC will change it 50 times by September anyway. :P

NBC has greenlit a spinoff of "The Office" that will debut after the Super Bowl, and will put "Saturday Night Live" in primetime next fall.

Those are some of the headlines to emerge from the Peacock's meeting with advertisers in Gotham Wednesday morning. Programming chief Ben Silverman unveiled a 65-week sked--this summer, plus all of next year--that emphasizes family-targeted fare at 8, broad appeal or "blockbuster" event programming at 9 and adult-themed dramas at 10.

Just four new shows are slated for the fourth quarter. Christian Slater starrer "My Own Worst Enemy" is set to air Mondays at 10, laffer "Kath & Kim" will bow Tuesdays at 9:30 (following "The Biggest Loser: Family Edition", "Knight Rider" will bow Wednesdays at 8, and "Crusoe" is set for Fridays at 8.

"Friday Night Lights" will be back--but not until the winter. "30 Rock" and "Law & Order" have also been renewed, as has "Lipstick Jungle." Matthew Broderick has been booked for the season finale of "30 Rock."

NBC will use the post-Super Bowl berth to air a special episode of "The Office," followed by the previously reported "Office" spinoff.

Peacock will once again air hourlong "Office" episodes in September. In October, "The Office" will be followed by "SNL Thursday Night Live," a live half-hour of politically-themed sketches geared to the election. Primetime "SNL" will air for four weeks.

I wish. . .

Exclusive: NBC Planning Major Office Expansion!

The Office by Justin Lubin/NBC Universal Photo
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, NBC may be about to pay a major compliment to Grey's Anatomy. Multiple sources confirm to me exclusively that the Peacock is developing an episode of The Office that would introduce several new characters who would then be spun off into a new series à la Private Practice.

However, unlike Practice, which stole Grey's regular Kate Walsh to anchor the new series, the proposed Office 2 is not expected to include any of the mother ship's core cast. In fact, producers are already casting about for a "name" to headline the potential show.

So, your thoughts on whom the star should be? A downsized Jim Carrey? The underrated Ed "Al Bundy" O'Neill, past due for a comeback? Mike Myers, set loose weekly in a blue-collar playground? And should NBC really go through with this plan, or is one Office a week enough? Sound off below! And then vote in our poll!

I'm watching the Moment of Truth right now and it is just LOADED with commericals like I've never seen it before. I think there were commericals for like 6.5 minutes or something! Crazy, just a load of fluff.

LOL, that's why I recorded it so I can skip the commercials later. I had to see the Lauren Cleri interview however, and I'm totally not surprised she and her husband have apparently split. It's back in June! :D

NBC's schedule sucks BTW.

I think they most likely will split but haven't done so yet, she just said they are not under the same roof right now.

The last episode for now of The Moment of Truth didn't seem like the worst one at all. All of the hardest questions came at the start and she didn't even touch $100,000. Over hyped a bit I'd say.

AFTRA will enter talks with conglomerates on April 28
Apr 2, 2008, 07:03 PM | by Lynette Rice

Categories: TV Biz

Less than 24 hours after the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) announced it would begin negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers (AMPTP) on April 15, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) said it will enter talks of its own with the conglomerates on April 28. The decision to schedule separate talks comes after a particularly ugly weekend of finger-pointing between the two unions, which led to AFTRA's decision to effectively divorce SAG.

"The SAG leadership has now reversed its previous approach of postponing contract talks until the last minute, and last night publicly announced that they intend to start talks with the AMPTP on April 15," AFTRA National President Roberta Reardon said on Wednesday. "AFTRA has decided to let SAG go first because we feel it is in all of our interests for SAG to maintain its momentum and because we want to give the guild a reasonable opportunity to meet with the AMPTP. In our view, our proposed schedule should allow SAG sufficient time to work out a good deal with the studios. At the same time, we cannot abdicate our responsibility to our own members to engage with the employers in a strong, deliberate, and timely manner so we can negotiate the best possible agreement for primetime performers."

SAG represents most actors; AFTRA reps daytime drama actors and a few primetime shows. Both unions had worked together for nearly three decades to carve out their TV and film contracts together. They will go at it separately now, raising concerns that a divided town of actors could make contract negotiations even sticker than a united one.
