It's on again. It was on last night too. I'm kind of pulling for the beagle for best of show.

I'm sorry but i have a poodle but those poodles in the show are down right ugly! I can't stand that cut. Cairn terriers (i have one of those also) don't seem to place. Poor little toto's!

I'm pulling for the Beagle as well. My girlfriend at work has an 8 month old 13 inch female. It's the first time in I think 38 years that the Beagle has won the Hound Group.

I love the BIG DOGS - the Working Group.

Also, Boston Terriers never seem to place either.

These Pedigree commercials about adopting dogs just tug at my heart.

Steph...how did i know you'd find this thread! You and i are faithful watchers of this show.

Did you see where 4 of the groups so far have never made best of show? That makes for an interesting best of breed.

That was a very interesting statistic about the 4 groups.

I love that they had that new breed in the working group in the final group - the Tibetan Mastiff. He was a beauty!

That beagle, Uno, DEFINATELY had personality and spunk. He pranced around that arena like he was a star. I love the fact that the audience gave him a standing "O" when he won Best in Show!

They were all beautiful - even the poodles. I think people are sick of always seeing them in there and winning and they want to see more of the regular breeds we have at home. The two poodles and the Akita won their groups last year as well.

Has an APBT (American Pitbull Terrier) ever won best in show?

Speaking of best in show, has anybody ever watched the film "Best In Show"? It's a funny "mockumentary".

According to the Washington Post this morning, the beagle was the first ever to win best in show at Westminster.

Yeah, Uno is the first Beagle to ever win. Also the first time the winner of Hound group won best in show since the 80's (85, I believe).

What a beautiful beagle. We used to raise them when I was a kid. I'd go with my Aunt and Uncle to the field trials and had a ball. Love beagles but they shed a lot and always smell "doggie". They are so sweet though. Our first beagle's name was Dixie. I used to dress her in clothes and play with her instead of a baby doll. I can still remember the day she died and I was only 5.

That must've been so tough for you when Dixie died.

I laid in the grass on the side of our home and cried myself to sleep. Isn't that something how after 57 or so years I still feel how that sweet little beagle affected me.

I think that most people would still feel the same way after all of those years.

Guess what time of the year it is!!!!!! The WDS was on for an hour tonight and on 3 hours tuesday night. I'm loving it!

The scottish deerhound was the winner in the hound group.

They're showing Uno right now, last year's winner, who is the "spokes dog" for "Angel's on a Leash".

I'm goin to cry.

I'm sorry, but if the judge has a potential conflict of interest, then the judge should be the one excused, not the dog. That's totally not fair - 2 dogs excused. I understand keeping the integrity of the show and judging in tact but c'mon!

I totally agree with you stephanie. And the cairn terrier is dear to my heart (i have one). The are funny funny dogs. Very expressive. Mine will talk to me. When he wants attention he'll come by my chair and sit up. When you say kiss! he'll offer you his nose. He's not a licker kisser.


Edit to add: My cairn, charlie, looks just like the cairn that was on.

Edit to add: Puli??? I love those dust mop dogs! Best of the herding group.

Here is a link to a forum with a little discussion about the "excused" dogs. Evidentally it was the handlers the judge had a conflict of interest with.

That's a hilarious movie.

I don't think that APBT's are recognized by most of the major sanctioning agencies. The closest you'd get is an American Staffordshire Terrier, but I'm not aware of one ever winning best in show.

We have 3 APBT's at home and they're the best in our show.
