I just got the second reverse 911 call this week. The first one was tuesday where a guy stuck up his girlfriend, this time all I know for the threat today is what is said by the college

"SPC has received a non-specific threat potentially affecting students and staff on the St. Petersburg/Gibbs Campus. Therefore, the Campus is closed for the remainder of the day (Friday, Feb. 15, 2008)."

I thankfully was not on campus, but this is getting way too close to home.

ST. PETERSBURG -- Classes were canceled Friday at St. Petersburg College Gibbs campus after police received a non-specific threat on their tipline.

According to a St. Petersburg Police spokesman, a disgruntled chemistry student upset about his grade had been emailing his professor for several weeks.

The student's last email contained the wording, "even serial killers and bank robbers have more rights." Even though the e-mail did not contain a specific threat, the college decided to shutdown the Natural Science building, then later the entire campus, based on the recent shootings at Northern Illinois University.

Police have not been able to make contact with the student and at his point it is not a criminal investigation.

Evening classes and a Friday night recital were canceled.

this is getting just weird

ST. PETERSBURG -- Authorities say they are investigating two threats this afternoon: a bomb scare at the Raytheon facility at 1501 72nd St. N. and an unspecified threat at St. Petersburg College's Gibbs campus at 6605 Fifth Ave. N.

There is no indication the threats are related, said St. Petersburg Police Department spokesman George Kajtsa.

At 7:05 a.m., an unknown caller claimed there was a bomb at the Raytheon facility, which has federal defense contracts, local police said. The building was evacuated, and employees were sent home about 10 a.m., said Kevin Ramundo, vice president of communications for Raytheon Network Centric Systems. Bomb-sniffing dogs were brought in from MacDill Air Force Base, police said.

"We have determined there may be some substance to the bomb threat," Ramundo said this afternoon. He declined to be specific.

Police have closed surrounding streets and nearby buildings.

Azalea Elementary School, at 1680 74th St. N., evacuated students this morning after learning of the bomb threat. The children were moved to Azalea Middle School, 7855 22nd Ave. N., police spokesman Bill Proffitt said.

St. Petersburg College announced on its Web site that the Gibbs campus was closed for the rest of the day because of a nonspecific threat.

St. Petersburg police spokesman George Kajtsa said officers were looking into the matter.

Effective Saturday, classes and activities will resume on the St. Petersburg/Gibbs Campus. The campus was closed Friday afternoon for security reasons. An organ recital in the Music Center was cancelled, as well. No other campuses were affected by the closing.

they still havent found the kid who made the threat.

Glad everything's back to normal at least. Hopefully nothing more will come of this.

Hope that they find the person who is threatening the school.
