Get Ready For February's Total Lunar Eclipse

In the late night hours of
Feb. 20, 2008, a total lunar eclipse will dazzle the night sky. And this lunar eclipse may be worth staying up for, because it will be the last one until December 2010.
The exact color that the moon appears depends on the amount of dust and clouds in the atmosphere. If there are extra particles in the atmosphere, from say a recent volcanic eruption, the moon will appear a darker shade of red.
Residents of the Americas, Europe and Africa will have the best view of this eclipse.
Here in the United States, the entire eclipse will be visible for the majority of the country. However, residents on the West Coast will miss out on watching the early stages of the eclipse, as it begins before moonrise.
This Wednesday night, hope for clear skies, try to stay awake and enjoy a spectacular lunar eclipse.

Unfortunately I probably wont be able to see it with clouds in the area.

I'd give us about a 70% chance of seeing it up here. The clipper should move through fast. Ours is at 10:26, and it's mega-total up here.

I believe at 8:42 EST it begins. I think I already see a "dent" in the upper right part.
The clouds are gone. I wasn't sure if I was going to get a good view of it tonight.
I think at 10 pm is when the moon is fully covered.

As I tried to subtly point out earlier, the eclipse is TOMORROW night.

Uh, thanks Regit!
I think I need my eyes checked if the moon looks like it had a dent in it tonight!

NWS totally blew our forecast for tonight. They originally called for clearing skies, but we have heavy ice pellets coming down right now, so it looks like no eclipse for us.

Current pressure = 1031 mb here. So we don't have a cloud in the sky...but it is ****** cold out.
