Spears guest spot a ratings record

Britney Spears' guest appearance on 'How I Met Your Mother' on US TV on Monday night helped the comedy achieve its higher viewership of the season, and means the show will be renewed for a fourth series.

The Hollywood Reporter says that the Spears-starring episode attracted around 10.6m viewers on Monday night; the show usually averages 7.8m.

In the episode Spears played a dermatologist's secretary called Abby.

The New York Daily News said of her performance: "Spears proved she can act every bit as well as she can sing."

The New York Post said: "Brit looked slim, (OK she was behind a desk), trim and gorgeous."

Good for her. After her parents took over, Britney's life is less chaotic.

Didn't see it, but I saw her on SNL.


If she can stay off the tweak, she might still have a career ahead of her.

I agree, if she can stay alive and clean, she could have a decent career.

Personally, I was amazed at her collapse. I thought that once she had her two kids she'd jump right back on the career wagon. I hope she can pull it all back together now, after recovering from her problems.

IMHO her problems are partially media fueled.

I think you're right. The constant hounding she took led to a spiral of depression and drug use. I'm glad that it appears she is shrugging those problems off now.

Funny thing is this - if you're a HIMYM fan, you barely noticed Britney. Because she wasn't playing the role of main character/guest that night. That role went to Sarah Chalke (who did a wonderful job, IMO). So much so that you asked yourself - Britney who? LOL

But hey I'll take the added ratings, if they occurred. I just hope guest stars such as Britney Spears do not continue. I hate to say it, but she really added nothing to the plot.

I don't watch the show, but I saw Sarah's role. I actually thought it was Scrubs at first.

She will always be Elliot to me.

Scrubs is the best show ever, man.

Britney still has a lot of fans and only her presence will increase dramatically the audience of any show.
