A primary school in Shifang County, Sichuan Province, the bookbags have been brought out by the firefighters but their owners are all dead and missing.

Beichuan County, where more than 6000 were killed, a girl was about to be rescued. She was lucky enough.



Huixian, Gansu Province. Fearing that aftershock may occur, people set up tends to live in.



Mianzhu, Sichuan. The mother told her child, still trapped in ruins, to be calm and patient waiting for the arrival of the rescuers.

Devastation

Just tragic.

Really sad. My condolences and thoughts are with the people who lost loved ones in this earthquake in China. I cannot imagine the pain and suffering they are going through. School should be a safe place for the children. Sadly too many have died in the earthquake. Losing a child is really painful for anyone.

It breaks my heart to see those pictures. Such a horrifying event. There really aren't words...
