Phi Theta Kappa members at St. Petersburg College, St. Petersburg Campus, in Florida, used a sports theme to raise almost $2,800 for Relay For Life, the major fundraising activity for the American Cancer Society. The chapter hosted a bowling night at a local alley, sold refreshments during the Relay, collected donations from the community and included their Better World Books drive profits to raise $2,768.30. More than 20 chapter members and their families participated in Relay dance contests, a tug of war, fashion shows and the "Race for the Cure." The St. Petersburg chapter team earned a Silver Award, and exceeded their goal for the second straight year. Chapters have been challenged to raise $10 million for the American Cancer Society by 2018, Phi Theta Kappa's 100th birthday. Report your chapter's Relay For Life participation by September 15.
