How many here think this person is gonna survive over 4,000 years? I don't. In fact, he may not even survive the next 40.

WEATHERFORD, Texas (WFAA ABC 8/AP) — A man was sentenced to more than 4,000 years in prison today for sexually assaulting three teenage girls over two years.

A day after finding James Kevin Pope guilty, jurors sentenced him to 40 life prison terms — one for each sex assault conviction — and 20 years for each of the three sexual performance of a child convictions.

At the request of prosecutors, state District Judge Graham Quisenberry ordered Mr. Pope to serve the sentences consecutively, adding up to 4,060 years. He will be eligible for parole in the year 3209, according to the Parker County District Attorney's Office.

Good riddancea to scum. Adios cucaracha!

Seems a bit harsh in comparison to other crime incidents where a serial rapist (as in rape and killing them) gets under 40 years.. Or maybe that's only here

If it was bad enough for 4,060 years just put him to death instead of making the tax payers pay to feed this piece of crap. I'd much rather pay for his execution then his food.

Sadly the death penalty wasnt applicable here.

The judge did his job, making sure this piece of trash never walks the streets again.

Wow 4060 years, well as others have said good on the judge for doing this he is going to live and die in jail.

Well I think to be fair Hurakan 4000 pretty much does mean life in this case!

Yep, that was my point. No one lasts more than 122 years (world record, french lady, 1875 - 1997).

He committed numerous offenses and the judge simply sentenced him seperately on each offense then ordered the sentences to run back to back.

I do believe that in Texas life is computed at 100 years(or maybe it is 99) Hes gotta serve about 1/4 of the total time given and since the sentences are consecutive(back to back) rather than concurrent he will have to serve about 1200 years before he can be considered for parole.

Had the sentences been run concurrently it would have been possible, but not likely, that he could have been paroled in something like 25-30 years.

I understand. I was being sarcastic about it. I think just saying "for life" is good enough. It's like a man that was sentenced to die like 4 times or more, I don't remember clearly. It sound idiotic since if you die one time, it's almost impossible to serve the other sentences!!!

That way in case the defendant gets one sentence overturned hes still got the other ones over his head and can still be executed.

A bit ridiculous i think. In China, if one is not going to stay in prison for life, then the duration will be no more than 20 years. If he commits more serious crime, then he may get a sentence of stay in prison for life, or, execution. In China you will never hear that one is sentenced more than 20 years in prison except for life prison emprisonment.
