One good thing about not being an open society, the Chinese government should have an advantage compared to some nations in combatting terrorism. The Olympics are, however, clearly a high value target for terrorists.

Chinese group vows Olympic Games attacks

BEIJING - A group calling itself the Turkestan Islamic Party has released a video asserting responsibility for deadly bus bombings last week in China's western Yunnan province and other recent incidents, and threatening attacks during the Olympic Games.

The Chinese government, which has warned that terrorism is the biggest threat to the Olympics and has mounted a massive security effort, played down the group's claims, some of which were inconsistent with details of the incidents.

Police officials in Yunnan and in Shanghai, where a bus explosion in May killed three people, said there was no evidence the two attacks were connected to terrorists, state media reported.

In the video, a man identified as Commander Seyfullah says the group aims "to target the most critical points related to the Olympics."

"We will try to attack Chinese central cities severely, using the tactics that have never been employed," he says, according to a translation provided by IntelCenter, a terrorism research firm based in Alexandria, Va.

BEIJING - Two men rammed a dump truck into a group of jogging policemen and then tossed explosives into their barracks Monday, killing 16 officers in a restive Chinese province bordering Central Asia, the state-run Xinhua News Agency reported.

The attack in Xinjiang province came just four days before the start of the Beijing Olympics — an event that has put security forces nationwide on alert and that at least one militant Muslim group has vowed to disrupt. Xinhua, citing local police, called it a “suspected terrorist attack.”

Well, the PRC won't put prisoners in a comfortable camp with halal meals, visits from a Muslim chaplain, and provide copies of the Quran.

They'll do it the right way with any terrorists caught, life at hard labor or a firing squad.

The right way to deal with terrorists is to decapitate them and toss the bodies to the fish-except for Muslim terrorists-their bodies you throw into a pit full of wild dogs (or pigs).

I have heard that after 9/11, China went after Muslim terrorists and they are cracking down on them.
