Everyone all together....AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! ;-)

Aug. 11 — In the past three months, the hallways at Groesbeck-based Tel-A-Sell Marketing Inc. have become a lot less crowded. CEO Edd O’Connor has been forced to trim his telemarketing staff from 72 to 18. “I WAS RUNNING a full house earlier this year,” said O’Connor, who also serves as president of the American Teleservices Association’s Great Lakes Chapter, which covers Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan.
One of the big reason for the cuts: the chilling effects of the National Do Not Call Registry and other similar efforts in statehouses across the country.

Hate to see anybody lose their job...but such is life. I went to college, did everything I could to secure a financially stable future, and I've been laid off twice, and let go once.

But..back to topic...I have only received 1 call since I signed up (but I only have cell phones in my house), and as soon as I told them they were in violation of the Do Not Call Registry, they were very very apologetic. I said "No problem..by the way ..could I have your home phone number so I can call you back when its dinner time at your place and we can discuss this further"?

I thought it took three months for the "Do Not Call Registry" to go into effect?

The website was announced the first week in July, so that would mean three months will be the first week in October.

You are right Tom, the federal law goes into effect October 1st. What's happening is the the companies that employ the telemarketers are switching to other advertising means. Once the law goes into effect, it's the company that hired the telemarketer that gets fined. :-)

a telemarketer called me saturday morning. he was trying to sell me a security system. i immediately cut him off and told him i was a member of the do not call list and not to call again. do you know what he said to me.... ' oh yeah, f u and that bs' i reported him right away. so they are starting to feel the pinch of the best legislation they have ever passed.

Yeah j, I hate to see anyone lose their jobs also, but this is something they should've seen written on the wall along time ago when the legislation was first introduced.

I agree j........no one should lose a job.....do you know just how many are going to be walking the streets, collecting food stamps that we, the poor working stiffs are paying for?? THAT'S what really frosts my cookies.........

ANYWAYS......We've got caller ID, most telemarketers #'s come up as "out of area", when we see that, we let the voice mail pick up.

I hate to see people get fired over this, but, it has been coming for a long time.

I for one, hate telemarketer calls and have registered on the list already.

We never got that many calls. They must know that we don't have any money.
