IOC and China agree to some internet restrictions

BEIJING - Some International Olympic Committee officials cut a deal to let China block sensitive Web sites despite promises of unrestricted access, a senior IOC official admitted on Wednesday.

I wish the IOC wouldn't have backed down on this. Its going to be tough for some reporters. Would not want to have their job.

Every day I find more amusement in the fact that the IOC is going to get burned for picking China, which they did primarily to "stick it" to the US. :lol:

The IOC selected China to host the 2008 olympics in a move to embarrass the US. It came after so many felt that the 1996 games in Atlanta were too commercialized.

well, I can't be bothered to watch the Olympics this year anyways. . . btw it more b/c of IOC and the Olympics as an organization than China, but whatever :roll:
