I was really hoping they would be able to save this baby whale 
From what it sounds like, it seems like they did the right thing. The poor little thing.

Aww, so sad. Poor baby couldn't find his mommy.I believe they did the right thing as well. Not that we should interfere with nature but I think in this instance it was okay.

I was also hoping they could save the baby whale. Nature is cruel sometimes isn't it? Even though it can be harsh, like OTown I do think it was for the best what was done. Still sad though.

I honestly don't see why this was necessary. Six days is hardly long enough for something to be called a wild goose chase. Before clicking on the article I thought it would be about a beached whale with some disfigurement, but this is just sad. They really could have done more for this whale and eased suffering at the same time.
