I'm an avid photographer and when working with my digital files using XP every time I select several files at once to rotate them XP will automatically copy them. Even when I delete them they replicate themselves. Before I know it I have copies of copies of copies. Does anyone know how to turn off this feature of XP? Thanks.....MGC

You know I have encountered that problem a month or so ago when I was choosing
multiple pics. to move them to a different folder. I got so aggravated I just gave up.
If you are having the same issue maybe it is from a recent windows update, a bug in it that causes it. Because I never had issues before and I always have chosen multiple pictures to edit or move in the past. Maybe worth some research now that I know its not just me. I thought that maybe it was something screwy with just my computer.
Have you researched it at all? I am going to do a quick search and see what I come up with. Good luck and if you figure it out please share, as will I.

I hate this. If it happens, I just right click and then undo copy. Then I have to start all over again. When moving 50 or so pictures, it can take a couple of tries, but it works I suppose.

ROFL, I just found this link.
Now we should feel really silly.

I just tried it, moved at a snails pace and didn't have any issue at all with
it making duplicates. Give it a try and see if it helps. Maybe we are just too
speedy. :D

That has happened to me too. You have to hold Ctl down and then precisely click on each file individually. If you get sloppy and move the mouse before you release the mouse button, it will suddenly start making copies.

There's another way to do it too. It works best for me if I select View/List, rather than View/Icons. You can left click and drag out the outline of a box to enclose a whole bunch of files. But you have to be careful not to click on the icon itself or you will drag the file with the mouse. In order to see what to do, click on an icon. the Icon, and the name of the file will become highlighted. You have to click outside of that area that became highlighted in order to make a box. Once you have the files in a box, you can right click and then do what you want with them.
