Rotating my computer stock

News from the latest computer auction at work: I acquired a machine built by the IT guys - a 1 mhz P4, I believe, 512 meg RAM, 30 gig HD, etc etc. for $50. There were several 2.4 ghz and a 3 mhz machines up for auction, but I got outbid. They went for about $100.

This will replace the current #1 machine (600mhz P3) which has been a solid, if pokey machine, which will move over to the #3 slot and replace a 500 mhz AMD machine that never worked well and nobody uses.

Ya gotta do what you gotta do with 4 teenagers in the house. My computer is in the #4 spot and has an admin password to keep the kids off it.

This photo is a little outdated, but you get the idea.

Wow, its like a mini library/computer lab in there.
Is that what I have to look forward to in the near future? :P

Hey Ed did you build that table/desk yourself?

Nice setup. I like to rehab and use old PC's too, but my wife would kill me if I had 4 set up.

Have you ever done anything with Linux? With a good lightweight distribution, you can make those old machines run much faster than they do under Windows. You should take another old PC and play with Linux a bit to learn it.

ROFLMAO, Karan. That's a staged photo. You should see it under normal conditons. Shoes, socks, and potato chips on the floor underneath. Papers, candy wrappers, cds, broken pencils ashtrays, and empty cups and soda cans on top, computer towers turned around backwards to plug in mp3 players.... I said 4 TEENAGERS - that should tell you. Oh, and a cat on top of one of the monitors.

I like your set-up there, Ed! Four computers, and one (even two or three, maybe) person
can actually turn around in there - unlike my current computin' area! :P
