ORLANDO, Fla. - The skeletal remains of a small child were found Thursday in woods less than a half-mile from the Orlando home of a missing 3-year-old girl, but officials could not immediately say whether they belonged to the toddler.

A utility worker found the body in the outlying middle-class suburb about 9:30 a.m., Orange County Sheriff's spokesman Jim Solomons said. There was nothing that immediately indicated that the remains were the body of Caylee Anthony, he said.

Caylee's mother, 22-year-old Casey Anthony, insists that she left the girl with a baby sitter in June, but did not report her missing until July. Anthony has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with her daughter's death.

It sounds like her, skeletal remains(she's been missing a long time), small child, less than a half-mile from the house etc.

I think it's best to wait for the DNA tests to cinform whether it is her, or another missing child

It turns out that even the tropics had a role in this case. The reason why they did not search the wooded areas earlier is because it was flooded for a while because of the Tropical Storms that affected Florida.

I hope it is her so that she can be buried properly and some closure can be provided to the family.

I guarantee that is her, I was watching when the story broke this early AM on my local news and it seems they are backing off of alot of
what they were saying at first to protect the investigation. The Orlando Police called the Equusearch team founder and said "We got her" right after they showed up on scene. I think there is something in the bag, clothes, earrings, ect.... that lead them to believe that right off the bat. I just can't wait to hear what all the forensics find and hope alot of these unanswered questions can be answered. Hopefully justice will finally be done for this little girl, and she can now have a proper burial.

I could go on and on about this case but I won't.
Its a very tragic and sad story.

If it's her may she rest in peace. For those that put her there, hell is waiting....

During the court hearing this morning they mentioned that the teeth of the deceased
and dental records of Caylees are of the same measurments, and the hair
was the same color as hers. I think the whole community knows its her even without
the DNA. Now who did it and why. They also say she had duct tape around her mouth
which leads me to believe this was no accident.

Probably to look for duct tape rolls, lawn bag roll, or more DNA evidence. They said they carried out pesticides, pool chemicals, and a vacuum.

As horrible as it still would be, I was hoping that at least it was some kind of accident that caused her death, and then they were just scared and tried to cover it up. But duct tape over her mouth definitely suggests this wasn't an accident. How can you hurt a child? And if the "mother" did this and then was out partying like she did afterwards, she is one sick, disgusting human being. What a piece of trash!

It just blows my mind. It really takes a special kind of evil.

Well I thought it was her as well, but now rethinking that.
I know they found evidence of decomposition in her trunk but for some reason
with the way this girl lies I dunno. Maybe she actually did give this child to someone
that would take her, since she didn't want the kid to begin with and grandma
make her keep Caylee (which is I think is wrong), and they did something horrible to her.
Or maybe she owed someone alot of money and they took the kid. Or maybe it
is just as simple as she did the evilest thing one could do. But I believe there is
more to the story, I think others are involved in some way. Either way she knew her
kid was missing, or was in the hands of someone she gave her to when she was out
partying. She has no heart it seems, emotionless pig.

The problem I fear is that with the remains being described as skeletal remains, the COD may not be known. In that case, the mother may not be able to be tried for murder. She will be charged, and serve a long time I'm sure...even if only for child neglect, and a lesser charge of involuntary manslaughter.

It's her. Murder but no exact cause of death.

This is soooooo sad but it's closure for those who knew and loved her.

I am glad that they finally found her. That poor little thing.

She's in God's hands now. No child deserves her end but at least she's in loving arms now.

Whoever killed her should be nerve gassed, slowly, along with anyone else creature capible of killing a child.

Sorry if I bump this thread, as Casey Anthony is on trial for murdering Caylee Anthony. Casey Anthony reminds me of Diane Downs.
