New Year's Resolutions

Do you make them? Do you ever stick to them?
I haven't really made any, except my joke in another thread about finally watching some of my unopened DVD's.
Let me see... I really need to make one to have more patience. In my day to day life, patience is very much needed, and God gave me so little of it. I have been praying about it, but I wish he'd hurry up and give me some.
So I guess my resolutions are to practice more patience and to start exercising more again. We still don't have our workout room set up in the new house... it's holding a lot of boxes and odd furniture, shelves, etc. We got Wii Fit for Christmas as well. Need to check that out!

Same as the past 7 years....I don't make 'em! I mean, I would make 'em, then break 'em within a week, get all depressed, it's just not worth it!

LOL Dennis, I agree.
I don't think I have ever made a NYs resolution. I figure if I want to quit smoking, loose weight, ect.... I will do it when I am ready not because its a new year. lol.

I got tired of getting pissed off at myself for breaking the resolutions, so I quit making them.

I do make NY resolutions and usually try to stick to them. Some fall by the wayside though.
This year:
1. Drink more water, everyday.
2. Walk on the dusty treadmill everyday
3. Do my back exercises
4. Be nicer to my immediate family (LOL!) They'd love it if I worked on my listening skills.
5. Don't complain about my health anymore (if I can pull this off, the rest will pale in comparison!)
6. Over a long break (probably summer), at least look into other work at the large school district I am employed at. I love working in the cafeteria but the actual work (psychically demanding) is taking its toll on me (back issues). I'm more suited for clerical work but that would be full time, 50 weeks a year. In other words, the real world - LOL But I need to at least look into it, since I'm employed already with this district. I know I don't want to be a school secretary (ton of work) but something at the admin building would be a pleasant change of pace. I never realized how hard a food service type job is - it's exhausting!
Let's see what else.....the usual:
De-clutter my house!
Organize our paperwork (ins. policies, important documents, old bills, etc.).
Next......

1. Go back to college and be serious about it(going back next week)
2. Get out more and try and break my addiction to the internet
3. Get a part-time job
4. Go on a trip somewhere this summer(probably the beach).
2008 I didn't make much progress on anything(after doing so in 2007) so I'm going to try to make 2009 much different.

My resolution is pretty much to be more successful than the last. That shouldn't be too hard this year.

To be the best person I can be at all times...
Perhaps it's my age speaking, but, on looking back I have to grimace for all of the time that I wasted...

Well Dionne, if you read my resolutions and between the lines they are in a similar category! I manage IBS-like symptoms, 24/7 due to having a major part of my colon removed, from cancer. It's been almost 10 years now and I pretty much have it figured out, but like you, I do all I can (proactively becoming my own advocate) to feel better (diet, exercise, meds) so I say do what you have to do to feel your best! When this part of your body is out of whack, everything is out of whack!
Okay back to lighter subjects for resolutions.......you peeps with normal guts and bodies, are SO LUCKY!

1. Stop being late to work
2. Stop being lazy at work
3. Keep my apartment clean consistently
4. Try completing coursework the day it's
assigned, as opposed to the day it's due like last year
5. Stop shopping at Wal-Mart. They have nothing that Krogers, ACE, Target, and the 24-hour gas station down the block don't have.... and those other companies pay their employees overtime without the need for a lawsuit.
6. Save gas reciepts/repair invoices, and actually REPORT my tips on next year's taxes!
So far I'm doing well on all except the first two. I love my job!
EDIT: 7. Rejoice and be thankful for every day that my colon operates like the ad said it would!

somethingfunny - hey that's a new approach - the "stop approach"! I like it. I could apply that to several areas of my life too - stop eating candy, stop taking days to do laundry and do it all in 1 day! Etc, etc.
My youngest daughter in college accomplished your #2 goal. She used to procrastinate in HS and then the last two weeks of every semester were awful, everything was due at one time (or so it seemed like), exams were coming up and she was frantic. By her senior year of HS she realized it was best to do assignments the day they were assigned. She applied this strategy her first quarter of college last fall and ended up with a 4.0. We are SO proud of her. But that's half of it really, staying caught up with assignments and doing the work as assigned (the other half is of course good study habits). Good luck with with your #2 goal. You can do it! I will tell you her secret though - she leaves her dorm and heads to the quiet study floor of her school library. She said there are no distractions up there and she can get so much done. See if your school has a study floor with carrel type desks available. If she had stayed in her dorm room or common areas to do core studying, it never would have worked.
