Relay For Life

Hey Everyone!

I need everyone's help! For those that dont know, I am the Team Captain for my team (Eta Nu-Phi Theta Kappa) at the Relay For Life at St. Petersburg College. We are now just over 80 days away from this year’s Relay For Life at St. Petersburg College. We are ramping up our efforts to raise our goal of at least $2,000 at Eta Nu, and hopefully more.

Although these economic times are tough for all of us to donate, our challenge is much easier than those who are fighting cancer. Children and adults alike deal with cancer 24 hours a day once diagnosed with cancer. Those with cancer likely lose quite a bit, and then have to pay for what they lose. The American Cancer Society has raised $3.1 Billion dollars for cancer research since 1946. They provide 126,000 services to 32, 500 people each year. They include the Road to Recovery, which picks up cancer treatment patients and takes them to their treatments free of cost, and Hope Lodge, which sends nearly 900 cancer patients in the state of Florida to camp specifically to get away from cancer for just one weekend. All of this cannot be done without your help.

There are thousands of ways you can help. Just to name a few, you can have a bake sale or a yard sale, you can hold a pancake breakfast, or you can sell Relay ribbons to everyone you meet. I challenge everyone who reads this letter to donate five dollars to Relay For Life this month. Of course, you can donate much more than that, but you will find that once you start donating, you wont want to stop. Once you donate $5, ask your friends, family, co-workers, and everyone you meet to match or beat your donation.

Our Relay For Life is on April 3rd and 4th, 2009. For those that don't know, Realy for Life events are 18-24 hour events than happen all over the world every day. If you live in the US or in Canada, there is a pretty good chance that there is a Relay in your neighborhood this year. And if there isnt, you can start one. Ours is held on the Gibbs Campus at St. Petersburg College, or more specifially at the Wellness Center and Fitness track. Everyone is in the Tampa Bay Area can feel free to come out to our main event or to one of our fundraising events, that I probably wil be posting in the future.

You can donate by going to our team page at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/gibbsptk or and clicking on donate. You can either donate to my team or to me (Jonathan Belles). Also, There is a new quick way to fundraise. Anyone, who has facebook can now download an application by the American Cancer Society. that application allows anyone who comes to your page to click "Support Me", which will send you to a place where you can donate to Relay For Life.

You can also contact the American Cancer Society directly by going to http://www.cancer.org or calling 1-800-ACS-2345.

Every cent donated goes straight to the American Cancer Society. It could save somebody’s life. Together, you and I can fight this disease, but I need your help. Everything you give is greatly appreciated. Remember, there’s no finish line in this relay until we find a cure.

Thank You!

I will be working on getting another newsletter out right after Valentines Day.

Until theres a cure,

I want to give a HUGE thanks to D5 and AC for their AWESOME donations to my Relay For Life cause!!!! Your donations are part of billions of dollars raised this year worldwide that go towards researching cancer, new cancer treatments, ways to slow and end cancer, treating cancer patients that cant afford the treatments, sending kids with cancer to camps to get a normal life for a week, and taking people to their treatments that couldnt otherwise get there. These are just a few ways this money will be used.

If you would like to donate to my cause, PLEASE go to http://main.acsevents.org/goto/JonathanBelles (My Page) or http://main.acsevents.org/goto/gibbsptk (My Team Page).

Every cent counts!!! 100% of everything raised by Relay For Life will go to the American Cancer Society!

I would like to see our members on this board support this great cause. Being a survivor myself, I am participating in my parishes' Relay For Life.

Hey Everyone!

I have an exciting update for everyone!

Because of the $1,053 we raised at last weeks concert, which pushed us over our $2,000 goal, I will be raising my teams goal to $2,768.30, which is what we raised last year! This means on monday, we will be about $500 short, with a fundraiser still to go, plus Relay, plus all other money still coming in. We still need funds for Relay. If you can donate PLEASE go to http://main.acsevents.org/goto/JonathanBelles .

Also, if you cannot donate this way, and are in the St. Petersburg Area, come on out to our Relay. It starts on April 3rd at 4pm, with opening ceremonies at 6pm, and the survivor lap at 6:30. It will end the next morning at 10am. All events will be held at the St. Petersburg College Gibbs Campus Wellness Center on 5th Ave N in St. Pete. Games, Laps, and activities include: a Dance Off, Drum Circle, Ms Relay, 4-way tug of War, Cowboy Lap and Line Dancing, Twister (at 4am chyea!), and a frozen t-shirt contest...with a lot more!

Please Come out!!

Thanks!
Jonathan

As of an hour ago, we have well over surpassed out $2,000 goal! Current total is $2,596.69, and I have over $500 left to go in, and we havent even made it to the Relay yet! That brings our unoffical number to over $3,000!!!!

Also, for the entire event, we are over $30,000!!

I still need everyone's help! Even though we may have made our team goal, we havent made our worldwide goal of curing cancer! Please help!! Go to http://main.acsevents.org/goto/JonathanBelles to donate!

http://main.acsevents.org/goto/gibbsptk is our team homepage!
http://relayforlife.org/spcfl is the event page.

From these pages you can see that Our Team is tied for the largest numerically!!
We are the 4th largest fund raising team (which is about to become 3rd!!)
We have the #4, 9, and 14th largest individual fund raisers (out of over 300 signed up!!)
We have the #1 company as well (not that its much of a title since there are 2 registered lol)

As Phi Theta Kappa, We have the 2nd largest event internationally
As Eta Nu, We have the 2nd highest fundraising team internationally
We have the 3rd and 8th highest individual fund raisers as well!!

WOOT WOOT!!!

Thank you Storm2k for those who have donated, AC, Trek, D5!!!

THANK YOU!!!
Jonathan

Hey Everyone!

I just wanted to offer an update for my Relay this year. The unofficial total is $3,238.56 so far, $231 from S2K members. I thank D5, AC, and Trek for their donations. I am waiting for official total both for my team and for the event, but when I get the numbers, I will post them.

Even though Relay is over, donations are still very much being accepted. You can still donate at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/JonathanBelles . If you can still donate, please do by Monday because the site will be worked on, on and off next week. If you donate, you will be rewarding all those with cancer, those who have survived cancer, those who will get cancer in the future, and yourselves.

THANK YOU!!!!
Jonathan
