Relay For Life

Hey Everyone!
I need everyone's help! For those that dont know, I am the Team Captain for my team (Eta Nu-Phi Theta Kappa) at the Relay For Life at St. Petersburg College. We are now just over 80 days away from this year’s Relay For Life at St. Petersburg College. We are ramping up our efforts to raise our goal of at least $2,000 at Eta Nu, and hopefully more.
Although these economic times are tough for all of us to donate, our challenge is much easier than those who are fighting cancer. Children and adults alike deal with cancer 24 hours a day once diagnosed with cancer. Those with cancer likely lose quite a bit, and then have to pay for what they lose. The American Cancer Society has raised $3.1 Billion dollars for cancer research since 1946. They provide 126,000 services to 32, 500 people each year. They include the Road to Recovery, which picks up cancer treatment patients and takes them to their treatments free of cost, and Hope Lodge, which sends nearly 900 cancer patients in the state of Florida to camp specifically to get away from cancer for just one weekend. All of this cannot be done without your help.
There are thousands of ways you can help. Just to name a few, you can have a bake sale or a yard sale, you can hold a pancake breakfast, or you can sell Relay ribbons to everyone you meet. I challenge everyone who reads this letter to donate five dollars to Relay For Life this month. Of course, you can donate much more than that, but you will find that once you start donating, you wont want to stop. Once you donate $5, ask your friends, family, co-workers, and everyone you meet to match or beat your donation.
Our Relay For Life is on April 3rd and 4th, 2009. For those that don't know, Realy for Life events are 18-24 hour events than happen all over the world every day. If you live in the US or in Canada, there is a pretty good chance that there is a Relay in your neighborhood this year. And if there isnt, you can start one. Ours is held on the Gibbs Campus at St. Petersburg College, or more specifially at the Wellness Center and Fitness track. Everyone is in the Tampa Bay Area can feel free to come out to our main event or to one of our fundraising events, that I probably wil be posting in the future.
You can donate by going to our team page at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/gibbsptk or and clicking on donate. You can either donate to my team or to me (Jonathan Belles). Also, There is a new quick way to fundraise. Anyone, who has facebook can now download an application by the American Cancer Society. that application allows anyone who comes to your page to click "Support Me", which will send you to a place where you can donate to Relay For Life.
You can also contact the American Cancer Society directly by going to http://www.cancer.org or calling 1-800-ACS-2345.
Every cent donated goes straight to the American Cancer Society. It could save somebody’s life. Together, you and I can fight this disease, but I need your help. Everything you give is greatly appreciated. Remember, there’s no finish line in this relay until we find a cure.
Thank You!
