I had a hard drive crash once and the freezer didn't revive it. It's worth a try though. The last, last resort is to drop it on a hard floor. That didn't work either.

The freezer trick only works for a very specific type of hard drive failure. It does work, though. If it works in your specific case, you have to hook it up and copy the data ASAP.
