Connecticut assembly debating a bill to strip bishops and priests of control of Catholic parishes.


I'd say this just might be a violation of the Establishment clause, but I'm not a lawyer.

I am, however, a Catholic.


This is religion and politics, but no parties or national figures are mentioned.

The Archbishop of Hartford is opposed to the bill.

I suspect this will be quickly struck down by the USSC, if adopted.

I'm not a religious person at all, but this concept seems very stupid to me. I expect this to be shot down.

IMO Politics and religion should never come in contact.

I can't see how this could be justified either, and why only the Catholic Church??

Word on the street is that this bill was proposed by the same person who authored a bill (Proposition 8 ?) allowing gay marriage, in retaliation for the Church's opposition to that proposition.

What they don't tell you in the news.....
