The speculation in the comments section of the article is interesting. I know North Korea produces extremely high quality counterfeit US currency - but would it really be possible to pass counterfeit bonds in those kind of huge denominations?

Maybe a better explanation would be North Korea smuggling assets with false Japanese passports? If the bonds are real the Italian government may be allowed to place a hefty lien on them for failure to disclose excess funds leaving their country.

If todays "update" turns out to be true the SHTF for US finances.
Anyone know if the Turner network is to be trusted? The Federal Reserve is only obligated to the Banks as recent suggestions by Bernanke to raise taxes to cover the Bank bailouts suggests.
Turner Radio Network has now confirmed the two men arrested by Italy were trying to secretly dump Bonds that were previously held by the nation of Japan.

That has the feel of a conspiracy nut network, but who knows? If the story is true, it will mean trouble for our financial picture, at least in the short term.
