This thread is unofficial, and my amateur opinion. The legal drinking age is now 21 (it was 18 in Wisconsin when I lived near Waukegan, IL, prompting many a trip to Kenosha and Milwaukee), and this thread in no way encourages under age drinking. Drinking can cause health issues during pregnancy, drinking before driving greatly increases the chances of a motor vehicle accident, with possibly deadly consequences, and drinking to excess can cause severe liver damage, or even addiction.
When oil hit $10 barrel in 1998, and Baker Hughes gave me two weeks severance and took away the F-150 with the Triton V-8, between 11 and 12 miles when I picked it up at Hub City Ford in Lafayette, I discovered that Busch beer, for an economy beer, wasn't really that bad. Compared to Meisterbrau, or Natural Light, or Old Milwaukee.
In these days of a poor (but hopefully improving) economy, when we're all talking about what beer the President, an Irish-American street cop, and a Harvard professor are talking about, I think we should have a discussion on economy beers.
And my choice, Busch.
OK, not cheap beer, but shouldn't the cop have chosen Boston Lager to show some home town pride? If/when the President ever invites me over, I'm going to represent and ask for Shiner Bock.
OK, since we've settled the over/under debate (over is clearly more sanitary and more convenient), what is your favorite inexpensive adult beverage, and what is your favorite luxury adult beverage?
