Its that time again for the members to post their predictions for 2010.Lets see how many of them I get right.2009 was not a good one for me in the predictions department.

1-Lakers repeat as champions and win another NBA title.

2-Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez will be killed in a coup.

3-Pakistan will be in turmoil after a coup.

4-Boston Red Sox win World Series.

5-Tiger Woods will return to play golf in April.

6-Israel bombs nuclear facilities in Iran.

7-Stock Market reaches a new record high of 14500.

8-U.S. will be hit by a major hurricane.

9-Floyd Mayweather wins a unanimus decision over Manny Pacquiao.

10-Five actors die of different circunstances.

Well - here's mine from 2009:

1) Economy will slowly begin it's rebound in the summer - Yep, SLOWLY
2) More severe fluctuations will occur in the market through the spring. One automaker will go bankrupt. - GM and Chrysler went bankrupt. Chrysler was sold to Fiat. GM is restructuring.
3) A significant movement of troops will be made from Iraq to Afghanistan by the fall - 30,000 more troops will be in Afghanistan by summer, 2010. Iraq troops are pulling out.
4) Accountability and restrictions will be put on the next round of bailout money to the financial institutions during the winter - CEO pay is the biggest one.
5) Infrastructure projects such as roads and bridges will be the first instituted by the government to create more jobs - lots of road work in my area.
6) The Phillies will go to the World Series again (I hope I didn't jinx them). World Series vs. Yankees. Yankees win.
7) REVISED - There will be two Category 5 hurricanes in the Atlantic basin this summer. None will land as a Category 5 though. Nothing really took off or landed this year. El Nino is back!
8) One or two casinos in Atlantic City and/or Las Vegas will fail this year. Atlantic City - Tropicana FINALLY sold, Resorts and Hilton taken over by creditors, Trump is out. All are still open.
9) Unemployment benefits will be extended two more times during the first half of 2009. Will be again for 2010.
10) There will be an increase in suicides as more and more people lose their jobs and savings. Not sure about an increase but the stories were still in the news.

Remaining 2009 predictions stats:

11) Stephanie will probably need some kind of dental work done this year, either a filling, cap, etc. - anything other than the regular cleanings. The last several years I've had something. - Two new fillings.
12) Prince William will become engaged to his girlfriend, Kate Middleton. They actually broke up and are back together.
13) There will be at least one major snow event (6" plus) for the metropolis of Washington DC through Boston this winter. Yep, just one and a whole lot of winter "mixes". YUCK!!

2010 Predictions - update:

1) Two more major snowfalls (6" +) will hit the East Coast of the United States.
2) Unemployment will fall to at least 9% by the Fall.
3) Phillies will go to the World Series again.
4) A filly will win the Kentucky Derby this year.
5) We will lose at least another celebrity due to drugs. Lindsay Lohan really stands out.
6) Health Care Reform will be signed into law by February.
7) Stock market will hit 11,000 by the Spring.
8) El Nino will lose his grip some. Hurricane season will be busier with 3 landfalling hurricanes in the Atlantic.
9) Simon Cowell will leave American Idol after 2010.

added 2/8/10:
10) The 2011 season of American Idol will be the last.
11) Michael Vick will be traded by the Eagles. McNabb will still be the starting quarterback.
12) Two major heat waves will occur along the East Coast - both in July.
13) Sandra Bullock will win Best Actress at the Oscars.

I'll add more as I think of them.

New Orleans Saints win Super Bowl.....MGC

1. The Eagles will get to the Super Bowl, and Andy Reid will blow it in the fourth quarter causing me to harm myself.

2. The Phillies will win the World Series, Halladay takes the NL Cy Young

3. The Flyers will rebound and make the playoffs.

4. The Sixers will get a nice high draft pick,

5. The Chargers will win the super bowl

6. Bama will smoke Texas

7. TCU will receive #1 votes in the final polls.

8. Carmello vs. Lebron in the NBA finals.

9. Stanley Cup Champions: Calgary Flames

10. NCAA Basketball Champions: Villanova Wildcats (yeah yeah homer pick whatever)

11. Rutgers football team will win the big east title.

1. Houston and Southeast TX will have 3 snow events this winter, similar to 1973. One will produce a general snowfall of 6" across the metro area with some outlying areas getting up to 10".
2. There will be an attempt on President Obama's life. It will not be successful.
3. Terrorists will make another attack on US soil. Probably either a biological attack or a dirty bomb. Loss of life will be a continually changing number due to the nature of the attack. The initial loss of life will be in the hundreds.
4. The New Orleans Saints will reach the super bowl leading into the last seconds of the last quarter and lose to Indianapolis on a last second field goal.
5.The 2010 Hurricane season will start off slowly and late but will end with at least 12 named TC's including one Category 5. There will be 8 landfalling TC's in the Atlantic basin. This includes at least one major hurricane in the Caribbean, at least one GOM landfall, at least one FL landfall from the Atlantic and at least 2 East Coast landfalls.
6. Congress will pass a major increase in funding for NOAA specifically targeted for the NHC and Hurricane research.
7. In the end the Health care reform act will not become law because the House and Senate cannot work our a compromise version.
8. The Houston Rockets will make the playoffs again this year only to fall short(pun intended).
9. The Houston Astros will be sold to an out of town owner who will keep them in Houston and spend huge amounts to revamp the team.

Maybe more later.

4.) One will be a blizzard event in Houston area
5.) America will win the most gold medals in 2010 Winter Olympics
6.) A more active 2010 Hurricane Season
7.) Houston Rockets win the NBA Championship
8.) Brazil will win the World Cup Soccer
9.) One major hurricane makes landfall on America
10.) More string of mass shootings
11.) Chicago Cubs wins the World Series in a upset
12.) Westboro Baptist Church collapses
13.) A coup will happen in Venezuela
14.) The Mullahs in Iran will be overthrown before war can happen
15.) Osama bin Laden commits suicide before he is caught
16.) A terrorist attack similar to Beslan happens in America at a school
17.) Lori Drew will be in legal trouble again
18.) North Korea makes threats again just to get more aide

7-I will finally get a house! And a better job in Central-Western PA!!!(I hope!!!)
8-A major movie star will be found dead of unknown causes

1-Democrats will lose control of congress as a result of reckless spending and national defense issues.

2-Planet continues to cool.

3-BHO actually calls an Islamic terrorist an Islamic terrorist.

4-Gold prices will adjust to a much lower value as mining production increases.

5-Secret human cloning experiment is successful.

6-There will be a tactical nuclear strike that will involve the U.S.

7-The war in Afghanistan will be a miserable failure for the U.S.

8-Our daughter will marry.

9-I will lose my best friend to a debilitating disease.

10-We will emerge from Chapter 13 bankruptcy discharging enormous medical debt.

5. The county changes their policy so I can keep my years of service and can work in the same county I live in. (without taking a paycut)

I can wish can't I!!!!

Here are mine:

1. A television show struggling in the ratings during the fall of 2009 finds ratings improvements and will become a spring surprise hit.

2. A wet summer will bring record breaking flooding to the Midwest.

3. Three Hollywood stars will be involved in the same major scandal that will involve law enforcement.

4. An earthquake along the New Madrid zone (greater than a 5.0) will rock the mid-South.

5. Lou Dobbs will run for political office.

6. Terrorism will once again be in the headlines off and on throughout the year. It will especially be prevalent in February during the Olympics when a plot is foiled and the late spring when a major attack is averted.

7. An unknown musical act from Canada will be the rage this year.

8. Another quiet hurricane season will prevail in the Atlantic with no landfalling systems greater than a borderline TS/Cat. 1 hurricane which will march across Florida in September.

9. Sarah Palin will get a job in tv.

10. The Olympics will see the US winning the most total medals, but not the most gold.

1) A member of the British royal family will die. Probably Prince Phillip or one of the young Princesses (Beatrice or Eugenie).

2) Israel and / or the US will attack Iran (probably will come out of this business with Yemen)

3) Lindsay Lohan will be back in the news for her personal life.

4) The Saints will win the Superbowl.

5) A famous singer will die in odd circumstances (odder than MJ).

6) Someone else will follow Tiger Woods' lead of personal revelations. David Beckham comes to mind.

7) The economy will start to slip again. The Dow might reach 12k, but that will be the high for a while.

8) In conjunction with 2), Oil prices will reach $200-$250.

9) The Conservative Party will get the most seats (but no majority) the UK Election, making David Cameron Prime Minister in a minority government.

10) Someone famous will surprise everyone and come out as gay

I might add more later.

Here were my predictions from 2009:

1. Many more people will realize that The Great Depression II is occurring and worsening Half Right

2. Fidel Castro will not die this year either Right

3. A major hurricane will make landfall on the US mainland coastline somewhere as a category 5, the first time since Andrew Wrong

4. Michael Jackson will get back in the news after a major quiet period since 2005 Right!!

5. Oil prices very slowly drop throughout the year to $20 and gas prices continue to fall to everyone's amazement Wrong

6. Hyperinflation of the Dollar starts for America Not sure

7. Riots get worse all around the world as the depression deepens. Europe will have many and some small ones will start in North America near the end of 2009 Wrong

8. Another Canadian election will be called and Canadians will continue to get more angry Half Right (Canadians got angrier)

9. A flurry of political scandals will emerge in 2009 and will seem like every week will have one (US) Half Right

I didn't do too bad in 2009.




Here are my 2010 predictions:

1. The H1N1 flu will make a slight comeback during the late Winter to early Spring

2. Fidel Castro will still not die this year

3. The Iranian protests and riots occur on and off throughout the year but rises to a maximum both during late June again and during September 2010

4. NBC's president Jeff Zucker is removed

5. Conan O'Brien joins FOX and announces plans to host a new late night show on that network Spring of 2011

6. Oil Prices remain stable for the first 6 months of the year and then slowly rise to $110 before coming back down again

7. The stock market has a second dip that peaks during the middle of March and then rises to a new maximum by the middle of summer to 11500

8. There is a June category 1 hurricane that hits Mexico and then a US state after it stalls in the GOM

9. Avatar becomes the highest grossing movie of all time

10. After two cool summers here in a row in southern Ontario, this summer will be a very hot one starting with Spring temperatures breaking records

11. Sony PlayStation 3 sales will rise at a much faster rate this year compared to its competitors

12. A major news event relating to Paris France's underground tunnels will prop up

13. Heidi Montag will pass away after a plastic surgery procedure goes bad
