TV bosses sorry after stuff mix-up

TV bosses in the US have apologised after preview clips of the Playboy channel were accidentally played out on two children's channels.

A Time Warner Cable (TWC) spokesman said a "technical glitch" was to blame for the mistake, which lasted two hours in parts of North Carolina on Tuesday.

The company was made aware of the error after parents called in to report it.

TWC said it had procedures in place to catch errors, but it was not picked up as it affected only a small area.

'Worst time'

"We're very, very sorry it happened - we know parents are concerned," spokesman Keith Poston told local news station WRAL.

"It took about an hour or so once we were notified of the problem to actually get it fixed.

"It was a technical glitch and unfortunately it hit at the worst possible time on the worst possible channels," he added.

The error occurred on the Kids On Demand and Kids Preschool On Demand channels where clips from Playboy TV appeared in the top right hand corner.

Although a menu of available children's programming was listed on the left side of the screen, previews showing nude women engaged in explicit conversations were shown where previews of children's shows normally would appear.

Mr Poston said the explicit content aired from about 0615 to 0815 local time in parts of Cary, Garner, Morrisville, Wilson, Goldsboro, Willow Spring and Johnston County, but added most areas just went black when the equipment failed.

Time Warner said it regretted the glitch and had fixed the problem so it would not happen again.

No, this was no "glitch" of any sort, it was on purpose. They always use that as a excuse whenever this happens and I would hazard a guess that it was a hack from outside or inside. This type of thing is happening more frequently and it's always the adult entertainment channels and never something else. Yeah I'm sure it was just a coincidence that it was "A technical glitch that unfortunately hit at the worst possible time on the worst possible channels", right  .

Hey everyone, guess what? Its happened AGAIN!!!   . I just read a news story about it:

Six minutes of stuff interrupts kids program Lilo and Stitch

* Cartoon cuts to porno movie for six minutes
* Contractor for Dish Network said he's seen nothing like it in 15 years
* Children now simulate scenes they saw in the adult film

By Phil Vinter

Youngsters left alone to enjoy a harmless Disney cartoon didn't get the fairytale ending they were expecting after the film inadvertently cut to scenes from a stuff movie.

The shocking error happened while Georgie Brown's three young children were watching a Lilo and Stitch cartoon at the family home in Fairview, North Carolina.

Ms Brown recorded the film several days earlier on The Disney Channel's Dish network.

She went to the kitchen leaving her two-year-old son, three-year-old daughter and five-year-old son in the lounge to watch the PG -rated movie.

A minute into the popular science fiction animation, however, she heard inappropriate noises coming from the lounge and when she returned she saw a man and a woman having sex on the screen.

I believe this is the 4th or 5th time now this has happened. Hardcore stuff for 3 young children and the glitch lasted 6 full minutes. Still no reports of children's shows played on stuff channels/movies  .

Dish Network said it had technology in place to help ensure it delivers the content that subscribers want to watch

Not this time.

David Guttey, a contractor for Dish Network who inspected Ms Brown's receiver was astonished to hear what had happened.

He said: 'I've been in the TV industry for 15 years and I've never once seen that.'

More trying to save face. Oh I'm sure it was just another "accident."

I have standard cable and never had that happen to me so far. Though on a USA channel spot, it was briefly interrupted by a Tele-Evangelist broadcast. It was a glitch as normal USA programming returns.
