Myrtle Place Elementary is a K-5 school. Do these pita (misspelling intended) realize how young these kids are and how they can possibly scare them? Also, school dismisses at 2:55 and i'm sure pita (misspelling intended) will still be there. :grrr:

The People for Ethical Treatment of Animals will protest against the circus in front of a Lafayette elementary school today.

The People for Ethical Treatment of Animals will protest against the circus in front of a Lafayette elementary school today.

Members of PETA will demonstrate at 2:45 p.m. today in front of Myrtle Place Elementary School, according to a news release.

There they will hand out activity booklets to children and one protester will dress as an elephant with a bloody bandage wrapped around its head.

The Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus will be in Lafayette on April 16 through 18, according to the Cajundome Web site.

I've always compared PETA with atheists. Most people in PETA want to prevent animal abuse. I'm sure most of us do, but you get the small percentage of them who do extreme stuff that gets them bad press like this and when some regular person says they are with PETA, you think they are a crazy person when they're probably not even involved in this stuff.

Similar things with atheists. 99% are normal people who just don't believe in god, but you have the small percentage that start suing cities for things like Christmas things on public property and "In God We Trust" on money and it ends up making all atheists look bad.

Yes they realize how young those kids are. They are doing it on purpose...what better way than to hit them when they are very young and brain wash them all the way through graduating high school? That's what they are doing.

I wish they'd come to New Brunswick, we'd all go eat burgers in front of them.

Whyscare children? What possible message are they trying to convey?

CM your intentional misspellings made me laugh. I often misspell PETA in the same manner.

I am heavily into animal rescue work (dogs) and believe me - us folks in rescue DESPISE the pita - oops PETA organization. They go after US for animal abuse. The jerks don't seem to understand that we are helping the animals by rescuing them from often abusive/neglectful situations, rehabing them and finding them good, caring homes.

GEEZ!!!

Do you know that we have even had PETA come to the high school where I work and harrass the Ag teachers/kids? We had some animals (pig, chickens and rabbits) they were "released" one night - just before the kids were to show their animals at the fair in February. Hmmm wonder who that might have been?

Sorry - will step off the soap box now.

PETA's thing is animals are better off dead than as pets, regardless of who is raising them. Don't believe me? Just ask the leader, their "president".

PETA's goal is to get press. If people would just ignore their antics they'd go away. Every time one of these indignant news pieces hits the net they win.

I'm a card carrying member of this PETA. :D

If God didn't want us to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them taste so good...

Or given us the brains to figure out how to obtain them for sustenance.

Ha. I'd do that if they ever did something like that in the UK, or maybe organise a mass meat throwing...
