I am always concerned that war will break out in the Korean peninsula. It is a matter of when. They are in a state of war still.

I doubt SK will respond with military action. I don't think they have the desire to fight........MGC

I wouldn't be surprised if NK tried something else.

There's an act of war right there. Had it been a Chinese or U.S ship NK would be a hole in the ground by now.

That's why they didn't sink a US or Chinese ship. Kim Jong Il may be crazy, but he's not stupid.

Had it been a Chinese ship-yes, NK would have been toast. Had it been one of ours we would bend over backwards apologizing for our ship getting in the way of their torpedo. Why else do you think the ROKs won't do anything, we won't let them.

South Korea may be considering military action:

SEOUL, May 23 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Myung-bak will deliver a public speech on Monday to present Seoul's tough countermeasures against North Korea, which was accused of attacking a South Korean navy vessel in March, his office said Sunday.

"President Lee will present Seoul's position on the attack and further plans, including bringing the case to the United Nations Security Council," Lee Dong-kwan, senior secretary for public affairs at Cheong Wa Dae, told reporters.

"He will make it clear that the South will take firm action if the North conducts any provocations."

Analysts said Lee is considering taking military action against North Korea's provocative actions.

I am Korean and America should not tie South Korea's hand. Let South Korea attack North Korea.

Based on some of Clinton's statements, and the article I posted, it seems that may just be the case.

I was assigned to Osan AB for a year in the 1960's. Of course the problem is, if war recommences there Seoul will be toast in the first 1/2 hour. The NorKors have a godawful amount of artillery aimed at the city.

Seoul would be obliterated if North Korea attacked.

The sensible strategy for any military action by the South is to aim everything at the N.Korean artillery as a number one priority.

U.S. military told to get ready in Korea standoff
Obama orders commanders to prepare 'to deter future aggression'

updated 5:31 a.m. ET, Mon., May 24, 2010

WASHINGTON - The White House said Monday that President Barack Obama "fully supports" the South Korean President and his response to the torpedo attack by North Korea that sank a South Korean naval ship.

In a statement, the White House said Seoul can continue to count on the full backing of the United States and said U.S. military commanders had been told to work with their South Korean counterparts "to ensure readiness and to deter future aggression."

Kim Jong Il is out of his mind, honestly, I hope he does torpedo a Chinese ship, that'll solve the NK problem.

Much easier said than done since the NorKors have had 57 years to harden their artillery positions against everything including a nuclear strike.

if we go to war against NK... be prepared for a draft. They have a first rate army. We would win... but we would have tens of thousands dead and SK and large parts of Japan would be obliterated

IMEO(In My Epic Opinion), War is useless. I think NK asked for it, but SK would be dumb to attack NK. Obama is (this is my opinion) Out of his mind to agree with SK, as NK would target us next. IOf thiers war, get the bomb shelters ready.
