Anyone like historic wooden ships? These belong to friends of mine, are in Florida now and then heading up the east coast, then will go into Great Lakes (schedule updates all the time).

The newer ship Pinta was built in Brazil not that long ago, and when she sailed across the Anegada Passage from St. Martin, I was aboard. It was great! To be aboard without any land on the horizon and imagine Columbus encountering a hurricane aboard such a small vessel just raised the goosebumps up and down my arms.

Don't miss seeing these if you can. Be sure to take along some kids, grandkids, neighbor kids, church kids - any kids - to soak up the rich history of the brave and daring feats which conquered the 'new world'!!

Wow!!! I would have loved to been there with you!!! Too bad they aren't coming to Texas.

Philadelphia has had tall ships come through the Delaware River in the past to help celebrate July 4th. I think that they are awesome. I'd love to ride on one of those things. I hope that the Pinta and the other boat make a stop into Philaelphia on their trip up the East Coast.

There is a few pirate ships in St. Pete and Clearwater that travel from place to place. I have been on one of them, and it was a true joy! If you ever have a chance like this one, just get on and let yourself go like the wind!

I enlarged the schedule link (above), don't think anyone had noticed it was a link, LOL! The Nina and Pinta are still on east coast of Florida (Ponce Inlet), then to Beaufort NC, and then will be in Washington DC for 3 days then up to CT and then Maine. Right now it's only set through Portland, ME in June, but then they will start doing rivers and end up back at the Gulf Coast by Christmas (you can see the schedule from last year, too.) They function as a floating historic museum and are toured from the dock, but still really interesting! I always let all my family/friends know when the ships are going to be in driving distance.
