Paranoid?

Am I being paranoid or are some of the rest of you as worried about this year's hurricane season as I am? The last year I had this level of concern was 2004 and that year the center of 4 'cane eyes passed within 50 miles or less of my home and I live in the center of Florida.
I'm prepared--all the supplies I think I might need and a "bug out" bag packed but---
the idea I might have to sit in the hallway again while the inside walls of my concrete block home shake doesn't thrill me.
I hope it is only fallout from the sadness I feel for those affected by the excessive snow storms, tonadoes, and flooding the US has been experiencing in the last year.

I'm not as vulnerable as you are, but to be quite frank, I honestly do not know anymore WHAT to think of with the weather. It just seems like when we thought we've seen the worst, something else happens. I say that I'm not as vulnerable as you but how do we know anymore? Springfield, MA, of all places, was just hit by a tornado. I think I'm just going to start to expect the worst and hope for the best. This is nuts!

I go into every hurricane season with a mix of excitement and trepidation so you're not alone. Those of us who live in the threatened regions are always aware of the danger that could come each and every year. Stay ready, stay informed and leave if needed. Other than that enjoy life

Marshall has it right, but I have to admit that I and quite a few other weather nuts I know have the same type of feelings you have. It isn't just a gut feeling, it is based on looking at the parameters for the Hurricane season and the possibilities/probabilities that may be setting up. As Marshall says, let's continue to enjoy life to the fullest and be aware, be prepared and ready for whatever comes our way.

As a kid I always looked forward to hurricane season...perhaps I would get out of school for a few weeks like after Hurricane Betsy in 65. But since Katrina, I dread the thought of going through another Hell like Katrina. All things considered, I made it through Katrina OK. Sure it was difficult not having clean tap water till nearly Christmas, I found I could live without A/C for three weeks, cooking out on the grill was OK until all the meat spoiled...the ice kept it cold for a few days. The worst part was smelling the decomposing bodies trapped in the debris....never want to go though that again......MGC
