I'll have to admit that lately I've been riding on some very rough and rocky roads. Work, home, personal - it's seems all the problems seem to crop up at the same time and put me in a "black funk". It took my ride to work this morning to put everything into proper perspective.

We have three rivers here in the Burgh. The Allegheny comes from the North, the Monongahela comes from the South and both of these rivers meet at the Point in downtown Pittsburgh to form the Ohio River. Well, as I crossed the Allegheny River on my way to work this morning, I was struck by the beauty around me. God certainly has everything under control. The wonderful mountains, green lush forest and beautiful rivers - these waters will end up in the Gulf of Mexico before long. Wow if he can create and control all of that, why do I even worry about my little problems ----- I'm sure he has a "handle" on them.

I think sometimes I just forget how powerful, mighty and loving our Father really is. I get so bogged down by my own problems and I kinda forget that He is always there for me and everything will be OK.

Beautiful, Karan, and so true...but I should let you know that my youngest stepson, Philip, is IN "Pburgh" right now, seeking work! "Be afraid...be very afraid!" (This is the kid who told the Marines, when he was asked to name his lifetime goal, that he wanted to become a "midget-herder"... :o )

OMG, I'm only 5'2" Bill!!!!! Do you think he might mistake me for a midget!!!!lol

What kind of work does he do besides the herding??Has he lived in the Burgh for a while?

Your post reminds me of Dennis's post called "I was just thinking". Sometimes we need reminders like nature and what God has given to us, or as Dennis put it, the people in the Third World that have almost nothing and can barely live from day to day.

Sometimes having an experience like that helps you sort out your priorities and what you need to do in order to see your way out of your funk. I'm sorry that you are having a "dark" period, but I try to remember as I go through them that I know I will be better for it in some way down the road.

Phil is a factory worker; he prefers that to "public" dealings, and he has earned his way up to supervisory status in plastics (before the plant burned down, and he was left without a position).

He's 22, and has been in Pittsburgh for about a week and a half; his uncle (my wife's brother) is taking him in until he gets settled. He's VERY funny, quick with "come-backs", and could be a stand-up comedian...but he gets "stage fright", and only displays his talents with close friends and family.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who gets lost in the beauty of nature! No matter what happens, how bad things get, when I am out in my beautiful places, I'm free. There is no other feeling that compares, is there?

Well, Brach's Wintergreen Lozenges would come in a close "second"...

Nice post indeed, Karan.

I spent 23 days near the Monongahela River in Morgantown, West Virginia, when I stayed with my brother while he was going to graduate school at West Virginia University.

I had a chance to stand right where the three rivers meet in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; right next to the former Three Rivers Stadium.

I was also in the Carnegie Science Center right there as well.

Tom, that's a beautiful and powerful spot.
