Ya beat me to it. Just heard about it on the radio and needed to surf news sites to get more details.
Weird...

Oh no! Suddenly the East Coast/US/Canada Blackout requires another look. Or is more suspicious now. Could someone tell what the time difference is for London, from say NYC? 7 hours ahead? 5 hours ahead? Thanks.

Eek! I would hate to be one of those people in a train or subway when that happened! But, considering I have never been on either I think I'm safe!

5 hours.
Sounds a little fishy, if you know what I mean...2 massive outages in 2 weeks?

From abcnews.com:

It's back on. Still say this was suspicious. First NYC, among many other cities. Now London. What next? Almost hate to say that outloud.

And didn't the NYC blackout hit on a Thursday too? :o Yes because SmackDown didn't come on...

It certainly did, Colin. I just saw it on tv at
my brother's house, next-door. I don't think
lightning at the Niagra Falls station had anything
to do with this one!

AND...the US and Great Britain were the two
leading superpowers in the Iraqi War?

I became suspicious as soon as I heard the news too. I think that they still are not sure what exactly happened with the Northeast blackout.
Part of what the terrorists were trying to do was to "disrupt" the normal day to day activities of their victims and render them helpless. It is also interesting that it happened to LONDON and not Paris, Berlin, etc. :?

I was thinking the same thing. The U.S., Canada and the U.K. all affected by major blackouts within a 2 week time period. Coincidence? I think not.

I'd say it was a coincidence. It could of happened there first and here over three months later and not on the same day of the week.

The United States east coast is 4 behind portions of England and 5 hours behind other parts of the country. During this time of year, (between early April and late October), when it is 8:00 PM Eastern Time it is 0Z, 0000 UTC and 00:00 GMT; GMT is Greenwich, England, thus in that portion of Great Britian it is a 4 hour difference.
(00:00 GMT is Midnight)
Interesting... at the start of "Studio B with Shephard Smith," Shephard was reporting that portions southwestern and southern London were out of power and "
some areas got it back a short time ago."

Tom - I see there were inconsistencies with reports on this Blackout. So sorry. Didn't have access to the TV at the time....for those needing links and updates, I provided that link.

Well, if the Germans want to try another "Blitz", they're covered!
