With the holiday season in full swing

(go into your local WalMart, they have Halloween, Thanksgiving AND Christmas displays up all at ONE TIME

) ANYWAYS......with Halloween nearing, they have ISLES of candy displayed, just curious, are you a Halloween candy *junkie*? I am......BIG TIME, I buy what I call *junk candy*

Ya know, the Willie Wonka kind, Nerds, Bottle Caps, Runts etc.........the *regular candy* like the small bars of Milky Ways, Hersheys etc....I don't buy them as they are available year round.

I used to be a candy junkie, but I cut that out of my diet. Of course, I still eat cookies and cake - but I am only human!

I fill my pockets full of candy when I'm out in the field, it takes my mind off how many MILES we have to hike doing enviro studies

I love the little mini Hershey bars, Reeses, Almond Joy, Mounds, etc.
I am a chocoholic. And I never did like "candy corn", even as a kid.

My favorite is the candy corn.
Yes I have raided the kids stash.
A couple times when I took the kids out, I took my own pillow case!

Like John, I cut that stuff out of my diet too. And yes as a parent we *used* to raid the candy (Easter candy too!!!). That is until they got older and figured it out.....some years if the wx was good, they came home with tons of candy. You just can't let them eat it all at one time. So we *helped* them out a bit.....
Now one year I did eat a Sugar Daddy sucker and paid for it - chipped a tooth. Be careful with those everyone!!!

I am guilty of raiding the kiddies candy. I even raid the candy while giving it out too.

I would always seek out the chocolate...and set that off to the side in case it was contiminated or laced with anything bad.
I would then have to test each piece to make sure it was ok. Had I fallen over or needed emergency help, well at least better me than them.
Dad was a hero once again...laying his life on the line for his kids.

Your such a brave man Steve! I know what you mean, I would MUCH rather something happen to ME than to see one of my kids suffer!
Ya know....that's one thing about growing up in a small, mountain community, we NEVER had to worry about getting contaminated candy, no razors, no pins, no needles, just GOOD, CLEAN FUN and LOTSA (in the words of Garfield in "Garfields Halloween") Candy, candy, candy, candy!

Well...they did get the caramels and sweet n sours and tootsie pops and things dad knew were ALWAYS safe.
I just was always worried about the M and Ms, Hershey bars, Reeses, and Milky Way.
Even now I buy extras of those for the little munchkins who come to our door. For every few I give away, I test another just to be safe!
And I always buy extra so in case I have to test too many there will still be some left for the witches and fairies and football players.
I'm a good dad.
