How fit are you?

#1 Postby azsnowman » Mon Sep 15, 2003 8:33 am

Came across this formula in Readers Digest last night, it's for Body Mass Index (BMI). Here's how it works:

Multiply your weight by 700, divide it by your height (in inches) squared to come up with your BMI. Scoring is as follows......18.5-24.9, your healthy, 25-29.9 your overweight, anything over 30 is obese.

What a way to start out your Monday morning huh? "LOL!"

Sheesh.

Age 43, 71.5"tall, 215 = 29

In order to be "healthy" I need to drop another 33 pounds!

I think that this should be graded on a curve.

Those curves are what get us in trouble in the first place.

Well.....here it is folks:

Age: 44
Height: 6'4"=76"
Weight 250#
Score: *sigh* 31.1

NOTE......this does NOT take into account your build, my chest size is 56"....neck size 22". Yes....I could loose a *little* weight BUT...considering my size, not too bad!

20.44...it is important to realize that this BMI calculation can be skewed b/c it is not a good measurement for people that have a high weight due to muscle. Technically most people can tell if they are healthy or not by looking in the mirror though.

Aww Stephanie, that's not bad. You got me beat.

JQ, I think you're right. We're all heavily muscled.

Dennis, I don't think that this measure applies to bears.

Come on, Chad, you don't want us to ask Mrs. Chad.

David and Marshall you have some catching up to do.

Ahem, Duck, you omitted your stats.

Bill and J, don't sweat it.

Geesh, you'd think this was the front porch or something.

"LOL!".....nope j, like I said, no signs of dunlap disease just yet!

That's right JQ...muscle mass isn't figured into this equation......as y'all know, I retired from the meat cutting business, my arms and chest are larger than norm, I mean, cow and pigs ain't exactly *thin and trim*
