IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

As most of you know, I am (or used to be) a chatroom mod. Well earlier tonight, I was relieved of my duties ("fired", if you will) due to an altercation that went on there. I won't bore you with details, but the fact stands that I am no longer a chatroom moderator.

Anyway, the "IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT" that I have is that I am going to be taking a break from the message boards and chatrooms (not just Storm2k either). I do not know how long this break will last. Maybe a week, maybe until next hurricane season. Or I may never come back. I haven't decided.

MIND YOU, this is only partially in part to today's chatroom events. Maybe about 15%. I had actually thought last night about taking a break for an extended period, because I felt that my time on the Internet was taking away from my schoolwork, which is always more important than any chatroom. I feel that Storm2k and the other boards have become an addiction, an obsession of mine, and NOT THE GOOD KIND EITHER. I am in the chatroom constantly, at times over 12 hours each day over the weekend. That is TOO MUCH time to be spending in front of a computer. Because of my prolonged time on the computer, my performance at school has declined a bit (not too much but enough to take notice) and I am more apathetic about school. Maybe this is all a part of being a senior, but I do know that being in the chatroom is not helping.

With all that said, after Isabel has moved inland and died, I will be taking a hiatus from the boards and chatrooms. Thanks for listening to my rambling, venting, etc. I will be thinking of you all. And I hope you will think of me, and hope that I actually go through with this. It will be difficult...but in the end it will be for the better.

8-)

Lyle, I wish you very good luck. I would think you would like to spend a little bit of time with those you met here at Storm2K and in the chatroom. I would really enjoy IMing with you if you are willing to when you are online.

I hope to hear from you no matter what. :)

Dude, we're gonna miss you while you're gone. But, no doubt, school is more important. It's part of your future. Catch up with it and keep it up. Watch the storms on TV if you need to know what's going on. :)

I wish you the best and hope you'll come back from time to time.

12 hours per DAY?? Don't your legs go to sleep sitting that long "LOL!"

Hey Lyle....one thing partner, when you leave, don't leave mad! Same rule applies when going to bed at night, you should never go to bed mad!

Yes, we'll miss your posts and seeing your smiling (cyber) face! Take care bud, drop in when you can (I know you will....you can't stay away "LOL!")

I will miss you!! If a break is what you need then you should definitely take it!! School and your future are more important. I have to monitor my online time too because I am on a computer all day at work (and S2K) and I go to school online which takes up my nights. It is really important to take that break!! Take care my friend and keep in touch :)

Awesome, AZ! That was my mom and dad's rule also! They might not have agreed in the end, but they never went to bed mad at each other.

Good Luck with school work. You're not the only one backing down from storm2k. Right now, school work is more important (sorry to say, but it is)

I completely understand what you're saying. It's hard to find a happy medium with everything. I hear what you're saying about school for sure. I spend so much time on the internet when I could be studying. What might work for you is scheduling a set "internet time", like everyday from 6pm-8pm or something like that. You obviously have a good head on your shoulders, realizing that you need to slow down to catch up on school work. Whatever you decide to do, good luck to you. :D

I am online often, Dennis. I have nothing else to do... this is the best and easiest way for me to communicate with people, too.

Well, I am sad to see you are going, but I completely understand! The pressure got to be too much for me to handle and I actually dropped out for half of my senior year! But, I went back, and due to my good grades and full loaded schedule my first three years, graduated on time with my class! Take all the time you need to make things right, then come back! :)

Lyle, you know you go with our best wishes! Hope to see you lurk at least every now and then just so we know you're doing ok! :-) The decision on the school work is a very mature one. Dedication to that now will pay dividends for the rest of your life!

Please stay in touch!

The Internet time idea that Jenn thought up will not work for me. The problem is that if I set an hour aside for internet time, it quickly becomes 2 hours, then 3, then 4, 5 and 6. Therein lies the problem. If I can't have internet in moderation, then it's best to just quit cold turkey.

Just remember that I am not just quitting Storm2k...it's all the boards and chatrooms. And like I said, I don't know how long it will last. I do want to spend at least a week away from it all.
