Till We Meet Again Derby...

We had to put him to sleep this afternoon. He wasn't eating and just lying around and crying. We originally had an appointment to take him this evening for fluids, but we kind of knew that it might turn out this way. Marty e-mailed me at work and said that he had vomited and wasn't eating and Marty was beside himself. We decided that we should take care of it as soon as possible and Marty, the ex-cat hater took him. I couldn't leave work because of budgets and I am an hour away. I've been saying my good-byes to him over the last few weeks.

Thank you so much honey for being with me for 16 years. I hope that I've been the best Mommy I could've been for you. You'll always be my "Boyfriend".

Stephanie, I'm sad to hear about this. 16 years is a good old age. I'm sure that he had a happy and content life, and you have lots of good memories.

Been three years since our sixteen year old pal, Sasha, was put to sleep and laid to rest.

I have a framed photo of her just inside the back door...right where she waited for me faithfully every day. We still talk sometimes.

She's just around the corner and that makes me smile.

Thank you everyone!

I've also been dealing with one mean cold so I think I've been too sick to cry. He was a great cat - very jealous of the other cats and protective. I als called him "My goofball"!

I feel him with me and I know he's happy now.

Thanks again! :)

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glint on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight,
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die …

Mary E.Frye 1932

This poem was a comfort when the cat of my childhood- Katycat passed away about 7 years ago... and I always held on to it- she was my best friend growing up as we moved around a lot.

It is now a comfort since my mother-in-law (Who was a true mother to me) passed away unexpectedly a few months ago... I hope it will be a small comfort to you as well.

so sorry to hear of your loss Steph. I have had many cats, the oldest made it to 20. There is nothing like the inner peace, comfort and tranquility that only a cat can bring to you when they lay on your lap and purrrrrrr, and close those eyes to tiny slits.

My present cat, a siamese named SinSei, likes to lay on either my chest or my wive's, (for some reason - he prefers her's)..usually alternating between us at night when we go to bed. He purrs and occasionally decides to take a little nibble on the chin.

Take a little time...then get yourself another. They say dogs are a man's best friend...I say nothing beats a cat.

Thanks agian guys! That means alot!

j - I have three other cats and a dog. I think that people that don't like cats have never really got to know one.

Opera - I've always liked that poem! Thank you!

Nice to meet you Baltimoregirl!
