What's your TWC Local Forecast music like?

Back home, they play great classic rock/bluesy instrumentals. I've heard Almann Brothers Band's Jessica, the outro to Derek and the Domino's Layla, and even the instrumental part of Pink Floyd's Shine On You Crazy Diamond! Up here at school, it's the standard fare light jazz stuff. I'm getting tired of hearing that all today, as I've left the TV on TWC. What's it like in your neck of the woods?

I believe The Weather Channel Local Forecast Music is the same nationwide.
I enjoyed listening to the music they played in the late 1980's into the early 1990's. Some of the selections now are good, too.
I liked Ogaski Daybreak (sp?) myself.

I'm pretty sure it's different, either for different NWS locations, or cable services. Either that, or it changed a lot right when I moved back to school this year.

Or maybe it's just my cable service back home. Some rebel (albiet, a rebel with good taste in music) hijacked the broadcast and put on his own choice in music. *shrugs*

The local forecast music is not the type of music I normally listen to, but I do enjoy it at Christmas time. And they have used a few songs I like in the past, such as Kenny G's "Silhouette" and Herb Alpert's "Route 101".

It's that jazzy elevator music today. I've heard the Pink Floyd instrumental too, but not so far today.

There is no way local cable companies can transmit different music for different parts of the country. What you hear in the Seattle, Washington area is the same you will hear in the Miami, Florida area and the Boston, Massachusetts area.

The music is only uploaded at The Weather Channel headquarters in Atlanta. Since the playlist changes monthly now, you may hear an entirely different set of music from one month to the next.
Years ago, TWC has three audio transponders, each one playing a different audio feed. One was the national feed, which carried music with no narration. The second carried narration for the WeatherStar 3000 units. The third carried music with narration for the WeatherStar 4000 units. These were dropped in 1995, in favor of no narration. Any narration that you hear now comes from files stored in the Star XL series (only available to that series).

September isn't over yet. They probably archive the song titles after the month is over .
