A man accused of entering a house and trying to sexually assault a 10-year-old Arlington girl early Saturday was rearrested Tuesday after a magistrate said he mistakenly released the man without knowing the severity of the allegations against him.
Jeffrey N. Petton, 25, of Venus was first arrested about 4 a.m. Saturday outside a southeast Arlington house, police said. The girl's father said he chased him from his house and into a neighbor's bushes where he held him at bay by bluffing that he had a gun.
