FORT WORTH, Texas - A father of six was killed in a freak accident early Saturday when his head struck a speed-limit sign as he leaned out the passenger-side window of a friend's swerving pickup, the driver said.

The police accident report had not been completed Saturday afternoon, but an investigator with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office said Shawn Garrison, 26, died from blunt trauma suffered when his head hit a "fixed object."

Traffic investigators determined that Garrison was in the passenger seat when he stuck his head out the window and was struck by an object, said Lt. Jesse Hernandez, a police spokesman.

I am so sorry for his family.
I knew of a schoolboy who stuck his head out the window of a bus, and it got cut off when it hit an overpass post.

Oh man that's just nasty...and even nastier sunnyday! :( :(

I'm sorry for his family...but it's stupid that he stuck his head out the window in the first place. :(

That is terrible, but strange and unusual too. My heart goes out to the family.

Ouch! I wonder what he was thinking before this occurred... the slightest thought of something like this possibly happening apparently didn't enter his mind. :o
