Faith is the glue for us Cub fans. They say we are 90% scar tissue. Could approach 100% before this night is over.

Sad thing...I love the spirit in this Marlin club. Just wish they'd play it out somewhere else.

The billygoat may be still alive.

Well, I'm crying real tears here Steve. Utterly, completely so disappointed for the Cubs. They should have won it, dang it.

Hey Mary...you are a true BASEBALL fan...being from Cincy and pulling this time of year for the Cubs.

Baseball starts early here in Phoenix. Kerry Wood lives about 15 minutes from here...and we'll see him out jogging in January. Same goes for the likes of Randy Johnson, the retiring Mark Grace, and others.

And we'll be heading down to Ho Ho Kam to see the Cubbies in March.

Right now...the sting is a pretty big OWIE!

Mary, Cincinnatisun (Steve) and I are all die-hard REDS fans! :D Reason why I am is having lived in and near the Cincy area for 20 years.
I'm not sure about Cincysun...but when it comes to the pre-World Series playoff rounds...Mary and I are both NL followers...so that's why we rooted for the "loveable loser" Cubbies! :)

I hope at least the Red Sox can show the Yanks who's BOSS! :x

Guess we're "stuck" now with having to root for the Florida FISH! :o

I was so upset to see it on the news this morning. Our power went out (AGAIN :grr: ) at around 11:00 for about 2 hours.

Hopefully we'll see them in the hunt again next year. They should be so proud of themselves!!!!

I hope the Red Sox at least make it. I'll root for them. I always go for the underdog.

Sky - thanks for posting what I'm about to post!!!

Jacki - let me try to explain my baseball logic.....all a direct influence from my dad!

First I root for the Cincinnati Reds - always have, always will. I'm a born and raised Cincinnatian here. To do otherwise would be sacriligious (if we're in the running for playoffs/pennants/series)!

Next I always root for the NL in the All-Star game. Never, ever the AL - they are the enemy, ;-) ya know, j/k....well, sort of.

If the Reds are not in the NL playoffs for the pennant race, then I root for A. the winner from our division or B. the underdog.

Then of course I root for the NL team in the WS.

And so because the Cubs are so loveable and they were the underdogs, they had my support!!!

Still bummed...

Mary

PS - this way of thinking is in no way meant to influence anyone else's opinions. My dad would be proud I still feel this way. And oh the DH rule - we despised that!!! LOL "That's not real baseball" my dad would mutter....again just a personal opinion folks. :-)

I just hope and pray the Red Sox win tonight....if the Series is Yankees vs Marlins, get me the Pepto Bismol....cause I'm gonna be sick :(

FYI - I also despise the DH rule Mary...let the pitchers hit like baseball was meant to be played (like we played it on the sandlot :)

Very bummed about the Cubbies... Cheeseheads would rather root, root, root for the Cubbies than the Brewers.

Perry - ditto here. My favorite Reds player of all time, left handed pitcher, Don Gullett, had a good batting average! Just when the other team thought: oh easy out - it's the pitcher, he got a single usually. My dad was always impressed by that - he'd say, hey that boy can hit!!! And pitch well too. No wonder he became my favorite Reds player, from the Big Red Machine days.....next would be Tony Perez.

I'm hoping the Sox beat the Yankees too (who BTW, we don't like either, no offense to you Yankee fans but of all the AL teams, they were our (my dad and I, watching games together umpteem times) least favorite.

Also, Perry I remember when Wrigley Field went to night games. I used to admire that old policy - only day games permitted! To this day I much prefer day games as opposed to night games. To feel the sun on your face, and root your team on, it just doesn't get much better than that. Unless of course you have a team like we ended up at the end of this season - new players, some fresh from the farm teams! But that's a whole other subject.....LOL

I'm just tired of seeing the same teams over and over again in the World Series. The networks won't be happy if the Yankees lose but I'd bet they would've had a large audience if it was the Cubs versus the Red Sox.

It would be nice to see teams like the Red Sox and the Cubbies in the world series....they actually have something to play for....unlike the damn yankees which keep raking on the titles!

I was hoping the Cubs would win too...their fans were so excited and they blew it. :( It was a well played series by both teams...and either team deserved to win, although I really wanted the Cubs to win.

Now, GO YANKS!!! :D

Mary.....my deepest regards for yet another ride on the Billy Goat. I was hoping and praying for a Sox-Cub WS.

Well...keep your fingers crossed for us anyway...the next best thing if your a Cubs fan. (you have to root for the cursed team).

Did that fan really cause that player to lose the out? If so, he is probably a fugitive right now. lol.

It was sort of odd that the Chicago Cubs played every home game during the day (specially ever Monday through Friday) for most of the year.

I remember listening to Tom Brokaw report that the Chicago Cub will no longer be playing day games every time they were home.

Please let Boston win tonight. Otherwise, this is one World Series I will tune OUT. Of course, being a Braves Fan I was disappointed, but at the same time, I've also been a strong Cubs follower and I, too, feel the heartbreak for the Cubs and Diehard Cubs Fans alike. Despite the heartbreak, the Cubs will be a continued force to be reckoned with.
