Thank you from the bottom of my heart BUT......I don't deserve this award, Michelle and I are simply doing what we love...the one who NEEDS to be nominated is my dearest friend and wildland firefighter, Rick Lupe......his death this past spring is a testimony to his dedication to his people and the non indians of the White Mountains. Rick didn't know, didn't care about the color of skin.....he simply wanted to save this great land for future generations, be it white, Native American!

Any person...anyone in our rescue/law enforcement/ public safety deserves a great debt of thanks. If 9/11 taught us anything, it taught or reminded us that there are those who do jobs for the benefit of all that put themselves at great risk. They are all REAL HEROES!!

Dennis - sounds like your friend Rick was a wonderful and caring person. I am sure he has gone to a better place, and that his work has been a blessing to all he has left behind.

I tried voting for him online and it requires some information I do not have. Would you please provide the information needed to include Rick?

That's why I winked. Dennis was my first thought, but I didn't know his last name.

You're welcome, Dennis!

Actually, it came as pseudo-spam in my inbox at home. It's not really spam, but most of the time, stuff that comes from Firehouse.com (which is where that link to Stihl came from) gets to me only because I used my email address to register at the site back when four former co-workers of mine perished in a aeromed helicopter crash. Anyway, since then, I've received stuff from Firehouse.com and I usually glance through it but can't use it. This one struck me and I knew it could be put to good use!

So sorry to hear about your partners! Shortly after Rick died, 3 more Fort Apache Hot Shots were killed in a chopper crash also, chasing smoke.
Indeed, this website will be put to GOOD use! I can't thank you enough!

Subject: Rick Lupes Nomination for Firefighter of the year
Hi Jack!
Hey......I came across this website on one of my Weather related message boards, I think we REALLY need to push this website and nominate Mr. Rick Lupe as Wild Land Fire Fighter of the Year, don't you? We owe him and his widow SOOOOO much, like still living here!

With Many Thanks,
Dennis C. Denton

Awesome, Dennis!
I tried to fill out the info on the website, but it wouldn't let me submit without more information on nomination references -- I needed two (one was you), plus address, phone numbers, etc. as well as an address for the nominee (I suppose I could put "n/a"). Would more nominations help? If several of us filled it out, could it push it forward faster?
