FORT WORTH, Texas - His conviction for sexual encounters with inmates at Fort Worth's federal prison for women has cost a former staff physician his medical career and, possibly, his family, his lawyer said.
On Wednesday, a federal magistrate judge added 14 months in federal prison for sexual abuse to the downfall of Dr. Carlos Baez, 41, a former staff gynecologist at the Federal Medical Center Carswell.
Baez was charged with three counts of sexual abuse of a ward between November and January. The charges alleged that he had sex with three inmates under his position of trust and authority as a prison official. In July, he pleaded guilty to two counts in a plea bargain.
