Now let's wait and see how this solar flare that erupted on tuesday will affect the communications by tommorow around the globe as last weeks one didn't caused nothing major.

So, this is quite unusual. The Bible says the Earth will be destroyed by fire......

But not before seven years of trial and tribulation, right? And then don't forget the rapture argument. Some believe the rapture is before the trib, while others believe we stay and fight it out and then get raptured.

During the rapture, can you reach out and grab a non-believer or a procrastinating believer by the collar, drag them up with you, and then, when you're half-way there, look them in the eye and say, "So, do you want to get saved now or should I let go?"

I'm sure the solar flare will not make it to earth. Let's not create a panic!!! lol

Yes blizzard the media creates more expectations to the public that makes many be alarmed but you have to look at last week flare to see how the media overhyped that event but nothing big happened around the globe.Now let's see if this big solar flare does affect the communications tommorow or it is another media hype.

Media hype and the potential of something happening with communications last week are two different things.

Media report to us, I don't like using the word, "hype."

Sorry CF77, I think that "HYPE " is the correct word here. If last week's flare was supposed to be so catastrophic, and it turned out that some didn't know what they were talking about, then in my mind it was hype.

On the scale of 1 to 5, last week's geomagnetic storm was a 3.

Alright, was does that mean exactly? And what effects did it have on the rest of the world, and these supposed effects, are they just guesses as to what will happen, or are they factual occurances. Just curious here, because if solar storms as large as this happen only every so many hundred of years, how is anyone to know what will happen to my cell phone or anything else.

Not trying to encite a riot here, just curious.

I am not taking any chances this time either. But, I do agree that the last one turned out to be nothing. It is better to be safe than sorry. I sure hate that I have to worry again.

I am just saying what I heard (and others heard) on the news on Saturday.

What should the media do to not hype this [and other news stories]?


Blizzard, isn't that I don't agree with you... I always feel "hype" is the wrong word, not that it isn't the right word.

It also says the Jews will rebuild the Temple first so we are safe so far!

Wow that is one huge flare. :o I wonder what will become of it...

It's a "wait-and-see" situation. I'd just love to
see the northern lights, this far south, but, on
the condition that there were no outages and
such. Of course, the world doesn't operate on
"my conditions", then, either...

strong geomagnetic storms can produce colorful auroras in the night sky visible as far south as Texas and Florida beginning late Wednesday

We can see the Aurora Borealis quite often here in MN. Love those sites. Gotta get out of town to see them though. I missed the last ones. I am going to look for them tonight and the rest of the week though. If I get a good view, I will take a pic and post it.

I am hoping the skies clear later today so that I might be able to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights this evening.

Yes, I'm north, but not that far north. lol. No, we had cloudy skies last night....could not see any Northern Lights.

Here in the states, we should experience problems with the solar flares sometime tonight into tomorrow.

Blizzard....I was driving on hwy 2 back in Late July and saw the northern lights....pretty sight. Of course, there was hardly any traffic on 2 at 11pm. I was heading to Cass Lake for a family vacation.
