Same here - Happy Halloween everyone!
What's going on at my house tonight? Well, my 13 year old daughter, Laura, was having trouble getting friends to commit to going trick or treating. Some thought they were too old and no one except for Laura was brave enough to say - I'm going! So I suggested she plan a party, starting at 5 (pizza), trick or treating from 6 - 8, fun back at the house afterwards. Well, the fun has now been extended until 11 a.m. the next day. Yes, call me crazy but I was talked into a sleepover!!! So wish me luck everyone - I think I'm gonna need it!!!

You talked them into having a sleepover, opposed to Laura asking if she could have a sleepover.

Huh? I can assure you it didn't start out as a sleepover, in my mind. But we're 5 hours into it right now. So far so good.

Debi showed up about 1800 with the candy...at least 40 kids were on the "early" shift, and didn't get any from us...they were more than compensated for by the latecomers, all based in the backs of pick-up trucks, their parents cruising various neighborhoods, one at a time.
By 2000, we were OUT.

And Annabelle (she BE a ho'!) was being driven crazy with "all the new people"...she just wanted to "play"...

Happy Belated Halloween to Debbie and everyone at Storm2K!!
Somewhat surprisingly (in light of the very warm weather and on a non-school night), it's been extremely quiet tonight in this area....my police scanner is as quiet as most Sunday nights so far, not even any traffic accidents.
We only had one group of trick or treaters stop by here all evening...otherwise, it's been as quiet as a baby (biggest events of the night were a couple small brush fires south of Douglasville, which were quickly put out by DCFD).

I've always thought that parents are asked by their children if they can have a sleepover.

Okay, one more time. Yes she did ASK for permission but the asking was a persistent - please, can we, please, we'll be good, come on, please - type of asking. Guess you just have to have a teen to know what I'm talking about! I think somehow you got the impression my kids throw parties w/o my persmission! That's not the case. They do however, wear me down, and they manage to talk me into saying yes. I'm a softie. Clear now? LOL

Mary, sorry about making this an issue, having a friendly discussion.
For some reason or another, it came across as if you brought it up to her before she did.

Tom - it's okay! I am a softie type parent, not a complete pushover though. I do draw the line on a lot of things but when it comes to fun outings or sleepovers......well, they usually get the go ahead. My mom only agreed to one, when I turned 13. Now we did keep my parents up all night - sorry Mom and Dad! - but my only party consisted of that one. I could have friends stay over, just one at a time after that.
Okay, let's put this matter to rest now!!!! It's November 1st, something I can't believe just yet. Yikes xmas is less than 2 months away now!!!!

One of my favorite things in life is scaring kids (and their moms) that are brave enough to walk up into my yard on Halloween....My 11 year old son is following my footsteps as well.....together, we are the terror in St. George on 10/31 :pumpkin: :BOO: :skull:
