There is always been prayer in school..."Oh God please let me pass this test"

First of all 1 Tim 2:1 Pray for all men Pray for Kings (all) Pray for all in authority, Justices, Governors, Military, Police etc.

In his first book, chapter 2, verse 1, Timothy wrote: Pray for all men Pray for Kings (all) Pray for all in authority, Justices, Governors, Military, Police etc.

Does that mean I have to pray for Saddam? Because if it does, I can't do it. I can't pray an insincere prayer. It's just not right.

Hmmm......I wouldn't *think* so, tough question! I believe the passage of 1 Tim 2:1 Pray for all men Pray for Kings (all) Pray for all in authority, Justices, Governors, Military, Police etc.....means to pray for the Kings of rightegous, God Fearing Nations, not the nations of COWARDS!

i think saddam, really needs our prayers and lots of them. he is a evil man. we need to pray that he turns himself in (which will never happen). that he changes. everyone needs our prayers. azsnowman could u list the website here for those that wish to look at it.

Nope. Because the government shouldn't be calling the country into prayer to begin with. ;)

If I get around to praying for Kings and authority figures- I'll pray that they are gentle rulers who have a care for the people that they watch over- I'll even pray that for Saddam. Just because it has a pigs chance of flying doesn't mean that I can't pray for it.

Pray, v.: To ask that the laws of the universe be annulled in behalf of a single petitioner confessedly unworthy.

Of course we pray for Saddam Hussein! God can use evil people, even if they don't realize it! Evil people can have a change of heart. How about Pharoh (sp?) in the time of Moses. There's lots of examples of that.

Now, as for annuling the rules of the universe, we don't even know what the laws of the universe are! I read a lot about science, and it's all theory. When scientists think that they have it all figured out, there's always a new discovery that alters their previous theory. Even now, they can't reconcile quantum mechanics with general relativity. It will take another discovery to resolve that. And you can bet that there will be something after that! All we really know is what we see, and even then there's more to it than we realize. The classic Newtonian physics that we all know intuitively, is only a special case, and in other cases, other tendencies take over.

Besides, a "miracle" is not as much of an annulment, as it is an "exception." (J.K.)

Here's a quote from Neil deGrasse Tyson, a writer for Natural History: "People who believe they are ignorant of nothing have neither looked for, nor stumbled upon, the boundary between what is known and unknown in the cosmos."

That boundary will always be there.
It's humbling.

Scientists will never discover God. He so transcends this world that we'll never understand, except with faith.

Pray for Bush, Pray for Saddam, Pray for each other, and pray for ME.

(End of speech)

The Bible says to pray in private. When people call for prayer, it should not be the 'look at me' i'm praying type.

Yes, pray for those in power to make the right decisions but pray for everyone also so that even the evil people may see the light and be forgiven!

"Bless them that curse you; do good unto them who despitefully use you, for My Name's sake. In this way, you will be heaping ashes upon their heads."

"Pray for those in authority, for did not God place them there?"

As to "pray in your closet"...remember the parable of the Pharisee and the publican? The Pharisee made a BIG show of his piety, and he had his "reward" in the approval of the crowd; yet the publican did not raise his eyes, but merely said, "Lord, be merciful unto me, a sinner". Which, I say ye, went away justified?

Besides, quiet, introspective prayers are very important..."For in Him all secrets are known, and nothing is hidden"...He HEARS you, even if you don't utter a word.

For believers, think on these things...for non-believers, think on these things, too.
