A change in policy from the US that all the time it has said that the situation in North Korea was not the same as Iraq that diplomacy was the first option.IMO the North Korean situation is a very dangerous one that can get out of control at any time if someone makes a mistake in tactics.

That is one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard. They better be careful because if China gets pissed we are all done for. Believe what you want China out numbers us and is the sleeping giant..scary statement

Yeah the US better be very careful with this situation and use diplomacy instead of the big stick unless it is provoked.

I think that statment was meant as an eye opener to North Korea.. Dealing with the North Koreans you need to huff and puff and carry one big stick for them to take notice:):):)... they seem to only respond to gun-boat diplomacy:):)

The only difference I see is that we said it in public. What does everyone think that the nuclear arms we pulled out in the 90's were there for? LOL With nuclear capable submarines, warships and aircraft all within easy strike distance of North Korean targets there hasn't been a need to have nukes actually on South Korean soil.

Yes China doesn't want a nuclear korean penninsula because thousands of refugees will cross the border to China.

Whether they want to admit it or not, North Korea is China's puppet. China let loose the reins in the months leading up to the Iraq war to cause problems for the Bush administration. Now they are in the process of reeling their dog back in....

Thanks for posting that article Linda! :-)

Korea is a touchy situation. On one hand, N. Korea only responds to strength and you have to lay the nuke option out there. I don't think that option is that new as we have always said we would use any option to defend the Korean Peninsula.

As far as China goes, they are a small threat as far as nukes go. I know that is a small comfort as I would hope we would never use them. China also has no forward power capability. They could fight on the Korean Peninsula obviously.

I agree with most, that we must use care. The only good thing about nukes is they make a hefty deterrent and must be suggested as Korea now claims to have Nuclear Weapons. Kim is a looney though and could do something irrational but we must still be able to make the threat.

Storm.... kinda changing the subject here, your right Kim is a looney. What really worries me is if Kim does have the bomb he would sell it to anyone including terrorists and I am sure he would be more then happy to help with a dirty bomb as well. IMHO
