Just wondering does anyone think that Mega Cities Metropolises are on the rise. on a large scale.

Notice how many of these cities are from Latin America, Africa or Asia.

Seems to be a trend.

The population in Dallas is 1,211,000 people currently.

That is a heck of a lot of people in Tokyo! I can't even imagine how crowded it must be.

It's a fact that people leave rural areas and small towns for the cities because thats where the economic opportunities/services/action are. That trend is maginfied in 3rd world countries.

In this neck of the woods, the population is basically stable. That's good for those of us that like things the way they are. You can still buy a nice house here for under $100,000. This is a sleepy, smallish city of 30,000. There's a regional hospital, county government, several state regional offices, and a federal courthouse here. So there's a good population of professionals/civil servants and healthcare workers here. On the other hand most of the industry is gone. So if you're not degreed or certified in something, you're working at the mall or at McDonalds. Also there's not much going on here for younger people.

I myself started out in a rural area and went to Philadelphia for a job. Then spent 10 years trying to get back. Fortunately I did find work in my field and got out of the city.
