Annoying habits our family members have!

Aside from the usual annoying habits (hmmmm, I'll leave it at that) I thought it would be comical to share odd habits our family members have.
For example, I just spent 20 minutes scraping scotch tape off our VCR remote, just to change the batteries (couldn't program the VCR!). You see, our daughter Nina, 16, has this very odd and annoying habit - she likes to snap the back battery cover on and off of remotes. Over and over again. Yes, almost all of our remotes (we have a basket now, 7 are in it!) have tape all over the back. We tried rubber bands but found tape works best. Now when we buy a new component, we all about scream out - Nina, leave the remote alone!!! She's always been like this - fiddling with appliances, remotes, to the point where she almost breaks them. She took her cordless shaver apart as soon as she got it and we could never get the cover back on right. It eventually got pitched!

My Dad tends to leave a glass, shirt or shoes around the house...which drives my Mom and I bananas...also, tends to leave a TV (blaring pretty LOUD...he's hard of hearing) on in a room after he's gone to do something else for a while.

That's not saying that we don't love our families either.

LOL
Uhh, Mary, I have been known to do the same thing with a remote, I don't know why, its a weird habit! But thats the only thing, not other appliances!

and none of the remotes have required tape yet, lol
I love my family, but yeah, there are a few things. My brother chews with his mouth open, drives me up the wall!!! I think he does it most of the time I'm around to annoy me!
My bad habit is leaving shoes everywhere!!

My lovely wife is the loudest yawner I know. Not the raucous yawning we are all familiar with, but when she breathes in, it sounds like she's trying to breathe in all the air within 20 miles.

My grandfather gets corn everywhere when he eats if off the cob. One Thanksgiving I sat next to him and needed windshield wipers on my glasses.

Does he tend to talk with his mouth full when eating corn?

I'll tell you what annoys me the most. When someone shaves their face and doesn't wipe up the sink afterwards. But I'm not pointing any fingers, LOL

Buy Chad an electric razor for Christmas.
Does it collect the hairs in it or something? Cuz if not, I'm not following you.

My family doesn't like the fact that I'll turn the TV on, but put it into MUTE mode much of the time. In other words, watch it, but not necessarily listen to it.
Mind you, if there is a show I am actually sitting and watching, I do have the volume up. But, if I have other things to do around the house or during meals, rather than turn the TV off (I guess I am still waiting for the other 9/11 shoe to fall), I'll just mute the sound and glance at the screen now and then.
I enjoy my quiet time. If I have a conversation, I'd rather have it without competing with Linda on Becker in the background.

Oh my Azskyman - I do the very same thing and it had driven my family crazy for years. My sisters when I was younger and now days.
I like my quiet too and sometimes all that talking drives me crazy.

Well, let's see....
wx247 - LOL!!! I swear I'm picturing that scene and it's hilarious! Not so sure I'd look at another ear of corn the same way again.
Jen - my hubby does the same exact thing. It drives me nuts too. He always, and I mean always, chooses the day I clean the counters to trim. Sure wish he'd have that great idea before I'd clean but no, there those pesky hairs are. And I'm saying, uh, do you think we live in a hotel or something? I don't have an Alice running around here (Brady Bunch). He then tries to make an attempt to clean it up. Oh please! He does that just to annoy me - as if to say see I'm helpless. I trimmed my bangs in front of him once (I regularly trim between cuts) and showed him how I lay tissues down on the counter before I start. I also do this when I color. He didn't get it. The difference is we know what a mess it will be when we're done so I think we women want to avoid more work. That's a whole other subject too......LOL
Steve - I now leave the TV on a lot, especially in the mornings catching local news. I mute a lot b/c the commercials are so loud. I never did this before 9/11. Like you, I'm waiting for the sky to fall again, don't ever want it to, but it isn't too far back in my memory. That's what 9/11 does to you.
That's it for now. Me? I don't have any annoying habits. None at all!!!! NOT. Oh my, if my family could add their 2 cents worth. One would be doing the laundry, folding it, but leaving it in baskets in the hallway. For some reason I rarely get it all back in the drawers or closets. That could be a new years resolution. Once our washer hose broke, water was spewing all over the laundry room and kitchen. Nearby was a newly folded load of towels. I just reached in and used at least 10 to mop it up (hubby turned off the main water valve). I said see that clean laundry sitting around really came in handy!

I do that to The Weather Channel.

(Ironically enough

)
Actually, if I could say one or two things...
I wish my mom would not be so nitpicky about my shaving habits and also I wish my mom would not baby me so much.
There I said it.

There is not enough storage space for me to list everything...
One matter I WILL relate is coppertop's latest linguistic nightmare of ending every sentence with "Sweet, yo!"...

(Hoping he will 'grow out of it')
