Im so angry and upset right now I cant believe it.

My mom's visitors visa to the US was denied because she has no assets!!!!!

You mean to tell me that you can only visit your family if you own a car or a house.... Get real! I know so many people who rent houses and lease cars.....

Sorry to vent, but I was really looking forward to having my mom help me out when my baby is born...

Immigration has become very strictly lately...
Have you checked if granting for your mom would help?

Now THAT'S completely unfair. :(

It's been strict. Even pre-9/11. (Legal immigration, that is.)

Have you checked into having someone sponsor her visit? Basically, the sponsor has to sign alot of papers saying they will be financially responsible for the person coming to visit, so that the person visiting will not seek employment and residence here.

A former friend of mine tried every way possible to get her boyfriend here. Filling out visa papers, visiting the consulate, etc. Finally, they found out about getting a sponsor.

I'm sorry, Bronwyn. I really hope she'd be able to come here and visit you and see the baby born.

Doggone right...this is sick...I cannot believe that our own gov't would deny a visa to your mom and thus keep you and your mom separated for the birth of your baby...my thoughts go to you Bron!

I'm so sorry to hear that Bron. I would look into seeing if she could be sponsored as the others had said. Just don't get yourself too upset - it's not good for you or the baby!

Sorry to hear about that, Bronwyn. The sponsorship idea sounds good - hopefully it is a possibility.

Thanks for the well wishes gus...

I have spoken with the local senators office, and the woman there told me they no longer accept sponsorship.

I am just so mad. She had everything else they wanted, made her go back countless times (no refund of the $100.00 per application either!)

I just cant see any other way .... GRrrrrrr AH ok now that I screamed I fell a bit better!

#1.) See if you can satisfy the minimum reqiirements...via Banking accounts(set up on mimimums)...a purchase of an inexpensive used vehicle in her name...etc...rules can be bent and laws interpreted if one has an 'in' with immigration.
#2.) She may well qualify for a short term Canadian visa...and odds are she MAY be able to cross in from there for a very short visit.Mexico would be my #2 option...
Keep the faith.

She has already tried the first one. Even thought she had a sponsor too. Never thought of the Canadian Visa Bronnie.

There is a reason why things have become more strict in this country; however, there has to be something done with circumstances such as yours, Bron.

I wish you the best of luck getting your mother here to see your soon to be newborn baby.

Loo,
The Canadians have a very liberal policy w/regard to all immigration.Technically, one does not even have to have valid ID to roam the Provincial Ex-English landscape...for months..even years as tracking is not a priority as long as one does not break the law.
They are very forgiving up in Yonder 'Eh?'Land!
Wonder if she likes Hockey...?

LOL AZ...

Well My husband went to Canada on a visitors visa... they interrogated him for 4 hours at the border.... I think it has a lot to do with the fact a lot of countries dont like south africa very much.

She had all the bank stuff, a letter from my fathers employer and everything:(

Then it's Mexico.Just ask 2.75 Million illegals in Calif alone. The AZ/Sonoran border is a sieve..and I mean at the official Border at Nogales. They don't even require ID half the time...trust me.
