To which "clique" did you belong in high school?

Hopefully, I broke it down into enough categories.

I was preppy...from my plaid ribbon headband all the down to my loafers. :)

I was a prep and carried it well into my early 30's. Thank goodness those days are behind me. ;)

I was a choir/theatre geek (2 classes of each!) who hung out with the gothics and the math/science geeks (dated the calculas king)- but was best known for and will always be remembered as the 2 time editor in chief of the Maple Street Journal- the angst riddled, student produced poetry/short story journal for the school

I put myself down as a bookworm/lit freak because that's the only thing that really drew the other freaks I hung out with together.

Suprisingly I was part of the jock "cliche" even though I was heavily involved with the theatre/debate/band/choir/FBLA group. I wasn't involved with athletics but the "jocks" and I always hung out together. I always fit well in any group.

I had no clique...I was a "jock", actor, musician, got my History credits "handed to me" (no classes), loved Lit, but always walked alone...by choice.

I was a cheerleader in 10th grade and I was in music (singing and handbell choir) and drama all through high school. I was also on the ski club and volleyball, diving and swimming team during different years as well.

I guess I was a musical jock!

I had no category either! How about:

shy around boys/uninvolved at school/into the social scene a bit too much?

That was me. Went to an all girls school, I lived for football/basketball games and dances at boys schools on the weekends. Did I go right up and talk to guys? Nope! Little too shy for that. Sports just weren't encouraged yet for girls (early 70s), so that doesn't fit me either. I just always felt in the middle - I was on the outside looking in with the popular girls/cheerleaders but not a geek either. At the time, I was happy being in the middle. As I explained in another thread, I wish I had become more involved in HS and studied more.

I was middle of the road. Hated the freaks, but hated the Jocks even more because they got all the girls. I managed to walk the line and keep friendly with both.

J - you said it well, better than I could. I always felt like I was in the middle too. Felt bad for the geeky girls, didn't make trouble for them, but was glad I wasn't in that group. Knew I couldn't penetrate the popular group - that was very understood. But they would talk to you in school - whew, that wasn't so bad. Just don't expect to hang out with them on weekends......LOL I had 2 good friends from HS and we formed a 3 way close friendship - almost unheard really. It was never 2 against 1, always all for one, one for all. We're still friends to this day. I had to ask the one girl if my memories of being happy being in the middle were accurate - hey maybe others thought I was a geek, how do I know? LOL She confirmed we were smack dab in the middle, out of 230 girls in our class and quite happy to be in the middle. I'm still a middle, don't stand out too much, kind of person. It just fits me.

after highschool, I had a couple of crazy years while going to college. I was a bon-a-fide Deadhead. Discovered music, and Hi Fi. Managed to find somewhere to party every night.

It's no wonder I can't stand teenagers today!

Would y'all be surprised that I took the hippie/peace-loving dead head??? I'd say that was the closest link for me.

Actually, I went through various stages in high school, especially after I moved here from NY in the middle of 10th grade. I got involved in drugs and I go into trouble for about a year and a half until I woke up. By my senior year I was again an honor student and I won a local beauty contest! I could definately identify with the "hoods" than the preppies though anyday.

Well, I guess I would have been considered a math geek, since I did well in math and even tutored a few students. Plus I did not have a lot of friends and tended to be bullied my first 2 years in high school (due to being short and also very shy). I never had the pencil protector nor did I wear glasses, but I fit in more with the "geeks" than anyone else.

Prostorm -- I was the same. I smoked like a train (I won't say what I smoked) drank like a fish. I even went to school drunk and was the first person in my county to get a gold medal on the National Latin Exam. :o Now if my children try that they are in deep doo doo.

I was intelligent but with mediocre grades. I wasnt athletic in the least and was skinny as a rail. So I didnt really fit in any of the social groups that were around back in the Stone Age lol. I did however have a pechant for driving well in excess of the speed limit, something that made me popular with the hot rod gang as well as the local police. Oh the good ole'days....
