now it is: "how much money will the politicians i vote for steal from other people and give to me?"
a very sad day indeed.

Sounds more like today's statement comes from donald rumsfeld and yesterday's better statement came from the man JFK. Could you imagine what life would be like if he was still alive today??

Steal means to take via illegal means. Whether we like it or not the laws and the taxes that pay for them are how our government works. If you don't like it work to change it. Spewing radical rhetoric only tends to turn people off and minimize your arguements.

not at all. the govt takes peoples money at the point of a gun. refuse to give your money to them and see what happens. it is legalized theft and vote buying.
heres the diff:
if i want something someone else has and point a gun at someones head and take it, i am a crook. but if i vote for a politician to stal the money for me, it is fine and dandy

Helen if you are so against our form of government why not leave the country? For all it's faults it's the best I've seen in the world and I've lived in or visited at least 30 other ones... The government is elected by the majority in accordance with our laws. That makes it legal whether you like it or not. To classify it as theft is just more rhetoric.....

Hmmm...what did JFK do? His Presidency was difficult to say the least and his murder a tragedy. As far as I know he botched the invasion of Cuba, ordered MLK spied upon and committed more troops to Vietnam. True he stood up to the Russians and gave dignity to the White House but he also had illicit affairs and questionable judgement in regards to foriegn affairs. I doubt if he was alive today, much would be different.

I doubt if history will be as kind to his Presidency as the image that is burned into our memories by the scene of his children at his funeral. Tragic yes but a great President? Not in my opinion...

I agree with you there. It's the symptom of the Me Generation. Of course when I was growing up the adults said the same thing bout the "Love Generation"...time has a way of seasoning people and bringing reality and moderation to peoples views.

Jack Kennedy got it wrong...he should have said,

"Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for YOURSELF. If you find yourself TRUTHFULLY unable to serve your own self-interest, THEN you may apply for the government to assist you...not capriciously, but well-documented cases alone will be heard, and assistance given."

Now, who can argue with THAT? :-?

I would have to say JFK was the last good Democrat in office. However...if he lived in today's Media scrutinizing, dirt digging, slinging, desecrating world, he'd have suffered a fate just like Clinton! (another 4 years no doubt).

But in all seriousness, he had his good points, and in todays political arena, he would probably be considered a moderate Republican. He was Reaganisque in his stance against Communism, and one of the only supporters of Joe McCarthy.
