James City County VA Police are searching for a woman who escaped from the back seat of a police car earlier this week. After being arrested for DUI she was handcuffed and placed in the back seat of a patrol car while the arresting officer proceeded to search her car. After discovering a quarter pound of weed in her car the officer went back to his patrol car to find his handcuffs on the floor and his prisoner gone. In nearby Hampton VA police reportedly sent 25 officers to raid in illegal tattoo parlor. One individual was charged with operating a business without a license and another was charged with possesion of marijuana.

One can make an effective, "one-time-only" handcuff key from a pocket pen cartridge...it seems clear that the officer didn't use the cuff's "double-lock" feature, and/or put the cuffs on wrong sided (the keyholes should be AWAY from the suspect's reach, towards the hands. If the suspect can see them, FI keyholes pointing UP towards the lower arm, it's that much easier to do).
